Deku froze up again as Shadow moved towards him. He was not afraid of her, no. It was different. The male was just shocked at the random encounter. He allowed her to move closer, her scent getting strong. In dreams, there may be scents, but they just were not this strong...another lick of the nose. He tensed up with her touch, facing her with his wide open eyes.

"...r...really? How do I know?" he asked the dream like creature. "You could be trying to trick me! Dream creatures love to trick me!" he continued, his voice slightly frantic. Deku often encountered tricksters in his dreams. They were often the only things he encountered in his life of solitude, and it was a common occurrence. But never had one taken the shape of his mother. It was particularly cruel and Deku did not like this fact.

Although Deku believed this may be a dream creature out to trick him, he was completely torn. This very well may be reality. His dreams were so vivid it was difficult to tell at times. About the only thing he could do to tell was...go to the river. Deku scrambled to his feet as he said, "If this is a dream, then I can breathe under water!"

Deku had known about this fluke in dreams for quite some time. He could always breathe in water in dreams, but never in reality. It was the only test to prove what this really was. He quickly maneuvered himself to the water, not even looking back to see if the dream creature was following. He did not need to go deep into the water, only up to his knees, where he stuck his face in without hesitation. It didn't take long for him to take his head out gasping for breath. Water had filled his nostrils in his attempt to breathe. He coughed a few times, staring back at the reflection of himself in the moonlight.

"It...it really is her..." he murmured softly. And how silly he must seem...
