At the densest section of the forest, there is a brief clearing where a steady flow of water streams down the slippery stone staircase. The water here is cool and refreshing. Staircase Falls has been rumoured to be the place where reality is met by magic; where peaceful spirits dwell. They are rumoured to have healing powers that are used to help the desperately hurt, though no one has experienced this, except for, perhaps, Kaive.

LET'S TAKE OVER THE WORLD

I THINK IT'S TIME FOR ME AND YOU TO TAKE OVER THE WORLD
( It's short again, sorry. :< I'm still getting the hang of him. )

I had, of course, fallen asleep. How silly of me. I was having a nice dream though, I was back home eating good, fat deer. One that I hadn't had to catch either, which made it all the more delicious. I could taste the warm, juicy meat as though it was real, It wouldn't have surprised me if I'd been drooling back in the real world. Thinking of that, I thought I better wake up, wouldn't do to be seen in such a state. I mean, I had appearances to keep up didn't I, being a royal prince and all.

Dragging myself back to the real world, I was glad to find that I wasn't drooling, dribbling or other such embarrassing action. Even more so when I smelt the tantalizing fresh scent of a young female. I watched as she came closer, running my emerald eyes over her feminine form. She was coated in pale greys and pretty pearls, quite a sight if I might say so myself, healthy and lithe, like a royal princess. Our eyes met briefly, my bright greens in stark contrast to her fiery yellows, and I was momentarily reminded of my mother's golden-eyed gaze. I, of course, took after my father, with my burnt wood coat and green eyed gaze, something I was very proud of. I did aspire to be like him, he was such a mighty wolf, others would bow before him and quail before his gaze.

Anyway, back to the present. I watched the girl as she approached me, waiting for her to speak or make a move. I wasn't going to move, I was more than comfortable where I was laying and she didn't seem at all threatening. It didn't take long before she announced herself however, giving me her name and asking for mine. I debated on my reply for a few moments, trying to gauge the blood and rank of this pretty lass. She seemed too well made to be a commoner, but I couldn't tell if she was of royal blood or not. I would have to find out, it wouldn't do to spend too much time chatting to a commoner.

I am Prince Njord, of the Kakua Pack. And you, pretty little thing, are you of royal blood?"My voice had a lazy drawl to it, though I was very well-spoken, you wouldn't catch me speaking like a low class waif. My gaze wasn't unfriendly as I watched her, it wouldn't do to start off with insults. I couldn't say I was all warm and welcoming though, wasn't my way. I mean, what did those cheerful types hope to achieve by smiling idiotically and prancing about like puppies? I could never understand them.

Shifting my position slightly, I gave a big yawn, feeling slightly drowsy in the warm sunshine. It was days like these that I favoured the most, warm and idle. I hated the rain and cold, soaking you through to the bone and making you shiver and shake. Dark days were so dull, in more ways than one. And the only way to stay warm was to run about like a puppy, something I most certainly preferred not to do. At least on days like this there was little to do but laze around bathe in the suns' rays. Glorious, that's what they were.

Turning my attention back to the nearby lass, I wondered what she was like. Was she a chirpy character or a more serious one? Was she kind or cruel, lazy or full of energy? What was her past like? Who had she known and what had she done? All in all, she seemed like a friendly, cheery creature, perhaps one of those 'head in the clouds' types that thought everything was rosy and innocent. Sometimes I was far too curious for my own good I think, but hey, you never learnt anything by keeping shmum and not asking. I think I would ask her some more later, if she hung around, I was really rather intrigued now.
