At the densest section of the forest, there is a brief clearing where a steady flow of water streams down the slippery stone staircase. The water here is cool and refreshing. Staircase Falls has been rumoured to be the place where reality is met by magic; where peaceful spirits dwell. They are rumoured to have healing powers that are used to help the desperately hurt, though no one has experienced this, except for, perhaps, Kaive.

If he said that he'd been unsurprised by her easygoing, fairly unperturbed response to his overindulgent hello, Paxten would be lying. Not many wolves were so cool when he made an appearance -- she was definitely one of a kind. After he felt her tense against the brush of his bare touch, Pax had expected her to bite him. Or run him off. Or something along those lines. The girl simply turned her face to his, her soft eyes searching his features. She looked fairly impressed; that was a good sign, right? After a second or two, he averted his gaze to silently tell her that he really wasn't a threat despite his silent entrance, although his smirk didn't disappear. Paxten looked good and he knew it, so he was satisfied by her appraisal.

Shifting slightly, he cocked his head at her response, unsure of whether she was referring to him or to someone else. If it was someone else, then Paxten would likely turn tail and leave. He still shuddered when he thought of the time when he'd accidentally (or at least, he'd sworn it was an accident. Unfortunately, not everyone believed him) wooed the older girl of another male. And then he couldn't seem to hold his tongue, so he told the guy it wasn't his fault Pax had more charm than he, so he'd scraped by in a fight which he just barely won. Just barely. Needless to say, there were still a few choice tingles on the scar hidden beneath his fur on his shoulder.

And then she continued her comments and the concealed tension in his mind melted away. He didn't even question the 'dashing' part -- just smiled slyly, hanging his paws off the edge of their boulder. Steely eyes glinting with mirth, his smile widened. "Is that my sarcasm detector I hear?" He asked playfully, nudging the girl lightly. If she wanted his company, who was he to argue? After all, it wasn't often he came across someone like her. Best to get to know her while he still had the chance. Pax even decided to dismiss the faint smell of another male on her coat, thinking it was thin enough to not have even been recent.

"I mean, I think I've found one of those dashing, pale coated, tall boys," he said, winking. "He's right over there." Pax tilted his muzzle towards a limping older male who was slim and somewhat on the short side. More average, than anything. "I think he's pretty sexy, no?" Paxten snickered quietly to himself when the male looked up, his eyes flinty and glaring. He just stared defiantly back -- since when did he ever back down?
