At the densest section of the forest, there is a brief clearing where a steady flow of water streams down the slippery stone staircase. The water here is cool and refreshing. Staircase Falls has been rumoured to be the place where reality is met by magic; where peaceful spirits dwell. They are rumoured to have healing powers that are used to help the desperately hurt, though no one has experienced this, except for, perhaps, Kaive.

The air was beginning to grow so cold that it seemed the sky could crack like ice at any moment. The day had seemed to fly by without the lass noticing, drifting on the breeze like the birds. Darkness loomed over the pair threatening to end their fun before it had really even begun. The sun was disappearing into the distance taking all warmth and memories of the day with it, but she didn’t want it to end... Not yet.

“My eyes?” The lass looked down at the floor. To her, her orbs were disgusting and dull just like she was. To her they hid the monstrosity of her soul. “My eyes are disgusting. They show nothing but fear and pain and anger. There’s nothing strong about my eyes or my soul.” Really she should have taken it as a compliment but she couldn’t see anything good about herself and she was certain no-one else could see any good in her either. A sigh wriggled out the femme’s jaws as she looked at the brute. “I’m sorry Amatus. I guess I’m not the best company or the happiest.” All of a sudden dark figures rose into the sky causing the huntress to jump, although she soon discovered that they were only birds. Everything was calm and quiet and the world seemed to at last be at peace. Yoki had never really taken the time to enjoy the world or her life for that matter, but for some strange reason; because she had met Amatus; the girl had a feeling that things were going to change for the better.

A yawn was beginning to build up in the lass’ throat and before long it pushed its way up her delicate neck and out of her maw, escaping into the atmosphere. It was starting to grow cold and very soon the huntress knew she would have to find somewhere safe to rest. Although she had found a friend and she trusted him she hadn’t yet found the will to let go of her past and trust the world and all the horrid creatures in it. “Amatus dear, I’m growing tired and I think it’s about time we found somewhere to rest for the night.” The femme found herself speaking in his tongue- posh and pompous- but she didn’t mind and it actually made her chuckle to herself. Night was supposed to be the time of the wolf. That part of the day when the varg could really show its true colours and shine like the stars above. That time when the wolf could run like the wind and fly like an eagle and no matter how alert the prey they would not stand a chance against the stealth, agility and power of the night hunter, but all this night hunter wanted to do was curl up in a ball in a deep dark cave and forget about the world outside, forget about her instincts... About whom she truly was; an ultimate killer.

Tiredness was beginning to overwhelm the girls’ body and she found that her legs were starting to head to the make shift den where she had begun her rollercoaster of a day. The lass peered into the dark damp cave. It really wasn’t the best place to sleep but it was a shelter and it could fit two wolves, that was if Amatus wanted to stay the night. Maybe he had some secret lover to go and meet and she wouldn’t blame him if he had another life that he had to go to. If she had another life she would choose that over herself anytime. “I think I’m going to bed now, feel free to join me. If not it was great meeting you and I won’t ever forget this day.” Oh how her heart hoped, begged that he would agree to stay with her. She may have wanted to rip his throat out earlier in the day but now she wanted him to stay with her. She may have seemed a little obsessed but if you had never had anything good happen to you and you had never had anyone care about you or love you. If all your days were filled with darkness you would want to keep hold of that tiny ray of sunshine, of hope. You would want to lock it away and hide it from the world, keeping it safe for your benefits. These thoughts scared Yoki a bit. She didn’t want to push him away or for him to think she was some sort of psycho but she couldn’t help her thoughts.
