The forest stands tall and lush here; ancient trees reach weather-twisted arms to the sky, fighting monster-like storm clouds back with their interlacing fingers. Shadow seems to lurk everywhere you look, but it spills calmly, coolly, inspiring a sense of stealthy calm or protection rather than unease. That is, if you've forgotten what kind of creature might be stalking just out of sight...Abendrot is a land cradled by the dark woods on all sides; in the center, some of the larger trees stay behind to reveal a small plateau - a citadel where this pack can gather and defend itself from invaders. There are, of course, softer sides to the land. Clearings here and there allow the sun to throw down its rays in incongruously resplendent gold showers. Ignore the lingering scents of blood spattered here and there along the borders: those do not concern you. The river on one edge of the territory is playful enough when it hasn't been gorged by violent rain. You can choose to note the ragged claw marks raked down tree trunks and the forest floor as friendly "Home Sweet Home" signs, if you wish.

All who treasure loyalty, order, victory, and the occasional indulgence of raw visceral pleasure are welcome, once they've been approved by the ever-watchful eyes of Abendrot's Alpha. But keep one thing in mind: no matter what your motive, this is not a fool's Paradise. This is the land of soldiers, assassins, and spies. This is ABENDROT.

Make up your mind quickly and prepare to prove your worth. You wouldn't want to add to those blood spatters, would you...?

In the moonlight there more thrilling

Those things that he knows

I smile at her fighting spirit. I liked that, it reminded me a bit of well me. “Whether you like it or not you are a little jailbird. A small one but a jailbird all the same. I can not tell that to you or Ker would have my hide. Oh and one more thing - no matter what you might think about them people are never innocent.” I was dangerously close to laughing. Did she really think that everything was like it was in those bedtime stories? “You would be surprised what people do to stay alive.” I consider this for a moment and my features become once again serious “Tell me what difference does it make? When you kill a rabbit I mean. That rabbit has done you no harm yet you have no qualms with killing it, why then is it so different to kill something a bit bigger, something that threatens your livelihood or perhaps something that gets in the way.” My voice has once again receded back into its usual erudition of ease. “Think of it as plucking a thorn from your paw, not bad per say just necessary.” Morality really was such an annoying little thing.

I soon watched her react to my own reaction. That look in her eyes. “Listen, I didn’t mean it like that.” I gave her a small smile in attempt to mollify the situation after all I felt a tad bit bad for saying anything at all. “Its just not... why am I explaining myself to you anyway?” My eyes narrowed as I seriously pondered the question but then my features softened, I did after all know why I just didn’t want to admit it. This little child reminded me of her and that truth rocked me to my core, not that I would ever tell her that… not that I would ever tell anyone that. I hear hell and my ears twitch in reaction but I figure its not worth the energy. I pick my battles unlike some.

“You have no reason to be sorry” my features dissolved into a slight simplicity; no smiles, no frowns, just a face. “It would be wise for you to learn not to apologize unless you truly did something wrong - people might assume your actually to blame, you know people. Silly and impulsive.” Lovely how I left out deadly and bitter. The little pup stops speaking for a moment - as if she’s contemplating something and soon her lyrics change into something of a mix between sadness, disappointment, and resentment. So it was her parents how fitting. “You can never truly get over anguish like that - it changes you forever. You never really forget you can push it out of your mind or bury it somehow but sooner or later it will fissure through the cracks.” In some horrendous fucking thing called nightmares I wanted to add by my coal lips were shut tight as she finished the rest of her story. Two against one? She was right how could they not survive. “Perhaps they were just protecting you…” I offer a smile even if it does look a tad bit less than what someone else would give. I would spare her the thought of an assassin or anything that might make her hate this place more. Whether I had wanted to or not I now found myself accepting responsibility for this child, funny how those things happen when you go out for walks. Now I couldn’t let her out of my sight - I knew deep inside she was just aching to get out. Tsk tsk we couldn’t have that now could we…

“Obviously look at you then look at me.”
