aurora borealis- noun plural: An aurora that occurs in northern regions of the earth. Also called northern lights.

In the middle of a dense forest of coniferous trees lies the Aurora Borealis pack, its name coming from its location. At certain times of the year, the northern lights appear, dancing almost magically in the sky. A narrow trail leads you through the close evergreens. Giving into temptation, you begin moving your paws. By venturing into this territory, you are venturing into a land belonging to a pair of feared leaders. You have heard rumors of them...but you decide to take your chances and hope that the tales of blood and death are merely fabricated stories to scare wolves.

You have walked nearly five minutes before you realize the sound of paws stepping somewhere from behind. Deciding that you've made a mistake, you quickly turn around, but find that you cannot go any further. Standing before you is one of the mighty kings you've heard of. His blood red pelt clings over perfectly toned bands of muscle. But that isn't what causes such fear in your veins. One of his amber eyes has a horrid, bleeding scar across it, and his good eye seems to stare right through you. His face is expressionless, giving off none of his intentions. You cower away as his jaws part.

"I'm Hell Demon."

His voice was deep and cut through the air like a hot knife through butter. Right where he left off, another voice picks up from behind you. You whirl around and find yourself facing another male with steely muscles beneath his pelt, which seems to consist of every shade of brown. He had startled you, and you're amazed how you hadn't at all detected his approach.

"And I am Ghost...we're the alphas of Aurora Borealis."

His deep voice was laced thickly with a Native American accent. His own golden eyes are directing a harsh glare your way. Now you're caught in the middle...your breathing has become heavy in your panic and you're not sure which to face.

"You've foolishly trespassed into our territory. You face the one called Hell Demon's whose voice is once more addressing you. Get out, or become a corpse along our border."

It's obvious they mean business. So now it's up to you...take your chances and stay, or heed their warning and waste no time getting out with your life.

The night air is cool and crisp. Despite the sadness lingering here the birds still sing softly from the nest where they protect their young. I let my bodice rest for a moment more soaking in more of the scent of my goddess. I pull my muzzle back from her fur sucking in more of the cool night air. Slowly the fever seems to be fading. I know this means the end is near. I want to be in my final resting place where no other wolf would be likely to stumble upon my remains.

As Akina voice her question a look of peace paces over my facade. I let the silence reign for a few minutes as I rise once more back to my feet. My body sways gentle as if in tune to a music only I could hear. My banner is still held high and up for even in my death I would still rule these lands. As the silence grows thick with expectancy I cast my blind gaze towards me dear friend.

" I did not wish any to witness this. I am glad you are here though. Please take a walk with me."

I wait a moment for her answer and start out once more. My walk is heavily limping when the weight hits my injured shoulder. I bite back any words of protest. I would lie in my den when the final breathe escaped my bodice. Underneath the silent alpha rock no others knew about other than Silent Death and Hell Demon. Now Akina would know of this place. a place of quiet solitude where many an alpha could find peace away from the demons of leadership.

As we walk my voice trickles out, seeped in kindness. A longing present in the vocal chords.
" How can I be afraid. I go to watch over our young ones until you choose to join us. I go to be with our pack and guard over them until you come to join. I will be with you to watch over you everyday. How can I be afraid of that? I have never feared passing into the vale. I accepted my death when I was but a puppy. I have lived on borrowed time. I mean who could have thought a blind pup would have made it to adulthood let alone as ruler of the pack. "

My words trail off yet in my head they continue. The unspoken words that I would let remain unsaid. That it was her I feared for. The pain of another loss. She had already suffered far too much. I have no fear for myself I only fear for those I leave behind. When we were about a mile from the den site in the thick of the forest. I have to pause again at the stream. My bodice trembles and I can not allow myself to rest again because this time I would have no strength to rise again. Instead I dip my maw down to the slow trickle of the stream and quench my thirst.
