Aplos Riverside

Moladion’s powerful, winding river...
Aplos River is a broad, slow-moving river originating from somewhere beneath the mountains of Spirane and feeding Iromar’s moors in the south. The northern parts of the river are known for their strong currents, with the water becoming slow moving in the south. The riverbanks vary along its course, ranging from soft hummock grasses to small groups of pine, and sometimes nothing but pebbles and sand. Crossing can be difficult at times, but it can be swam or bridged by fallen trees or boulders alike.

His mind was hardly there, hardly on earth as his gaze remained fixated upon the stars above. There was something about stars that made them almost calming; for most of his travels, he had taken them as his company, listening to the elder's stories of their origins. Whenever he looked at them, he could not help but wonder why one had decided to come down to Moladion - perhaps he should have been weary of the little fires in the skies but alas, they were too peaceful. The star had fallen for a reason - the others remained in the sky for a reason, too. In time he would learn that he lay in that particular space on that night for a reason, as well. A reason that would sneak up on him like a shadow, only appearing when she was right beside him.

He was startled at first, his body flinching and the fur along his spine rising slightly as his gaze shot up to the other. There she was - tall and lean, so different to what she had been so long ago. There was no question in his mind - it was Seren. His mother had paired them when they were but cubs - he could not suppress his surprise however and he remained speechless for some moments after she spoke, his eyes wide and mouth half agape. She had... survived? All he had known had been here within Moladion and yet it had taken so long for him to return. No! She was his to protect for for almost three years, he had failed in those duties. Hell, it should have been he who had saved her from the fires and yet here she stood - beside him, more alive than ever with those strange, strange eyes fixated upon his own. She had always been beautiful, even in her youth, and he could not deny that either - the thought was given away by a sudden shift in his expression, his lips pulled up into a broad grin and his tail thumped with cheer behind him as he slid up into a seated position.

"Seren, it is you!" he exclaimed, his weight shifting forward before he stopped himself from an awkward display of affection. Besides, they had really hardly known each other - he simply understood that she was his to guard and to care for. "Yes, yes, and you are mine."

He did not allow silence to linger for too long, his gold ears flickering forward, each and every inch of his attention completely directed towards her. How much had he missed? She appeared well fed and smelt of so many others but.. that wasn't good enough reason to believe she had been cared for.

"I should have been the one to look out for you, I'm sorry," he nodded, a passing expression of guilt taking over him for some seconds before he readjusted himself. He had a lively face - one that reflected every flicker of thought or tweak in his emotions; it was no difficult task to read him, his body language a constant giveaway. He could never hide a secret - never hide a single thing in his life. All the cunning had been wasted on his older siblings, leaving Elric an open book.

"I will be here for you now, I promise."
