At the densest section of the forest, there is a brief clearing where a steady flow of water streams down the slippery stone staircase. The water here is cool and refreshing. Staircase Falls has been rumoured to be the place where reality is met by magic; where peaceful spirits dwell. They are rumoured to have healing powers that are used to help the desperately hurt, though no one has experienced this, except for, perhaps, Kaive.

Leila

___________________________________________________________________________

“You need not to worry about me Kal; I understand that this world is crooked – bent by the even balance of what we portray as good and as bad. I shall not be naïve in thinking that everyone is friendly for I have met my fair share of unlikeable wolves.” Leila informed the melded brute after he had shared the concerns of not all wolves being as friendly as he. This world was cruel but for every sinful act there would be a good one; it was equal and even but even so still a dangerous place to be but that was the risks of living and Leila was not going to be put down. Her maw stretched up in a bright smile after breaking from her thoughts that had shrouded her occupied mind. Her vibrant orange eyes scanned the expression on his face before one disappeared completely for a brief second as Leila closed it in a wink. He found herself quite fond of this brute – which was unusual in such a small amount of time. Leila was glad that she had discovered a friend whom she could trust in – and she in return had (or so she hoped.) made a good impression with Kal.

Her fiery gaze was directed to the sky where Kalgalath’s optics had previously been held. Leila saw the mixture of clouds that swarmed the sky; there would be no rain – for now. The sunlight had no faded but the air was warm and so Leila was content in this weather although the sun beams she had once been basking in were sorely missed. In the relaxed atmosphere of her friend Leila felt the pull of her mouth twist into a yawn and after a few moments her lobes swivelled to hear the equally lazy yawn.

Leila giggled enthusiastically as his face twisted into a frown – obviously showing disgust in the nickname she had threatened to call him. ‘Gal-pal.’ It was an obvious insult to his pride as a brute but that was the exact reaction Leila had thrived for. It was hilarious! ‘Kal-pal… yes. I suppose I can live with Kal-pal, as long as you swear to not share your ideas to call me ‘gal’ to anyone ever. They shall think me soft and girly!’ The dark phantom grinned at him, that promise would be hard to live up to and she would have hated to break a promise. “Well, Kally-Pally I am not one hundred per cent sure if I can keep that promise. It is a hard thing to decide, well my dear perhaps I shall keep my lips shut for now.” She informed him with devious smile lighting up her features. She winked once again with a smirk lingering over her peckers.
He explained, for reasons she already understood, why she did not have a nickname of her own. Leila smiled, ‘Well you, unlike me, do not have a rather long and uncommon name that lupines tend to mess up.’ She nodded with a small smile perched on her lips. If she had been a human then her cheeks might have flushed with a crimson red as he explained her name did not need a nickname for it was beautiful alone. “Thank you,” she regarded him.

The dark phantom shifted around so that she was sitting straight ahead – feeling slightly fidgety in the time of idleness. She listened radiantly as he explained the packs that were contained in Blossom Forest. He warned her against the two packs that were Malignant Felicity and Abendrot. ‘They are more of the likes of dungeons and hell-holes than of packs.’ Leila smiled and said: “Well, I shall be sure to stay clear of them but first on my visit list will be your pack but somewhere in Blossom Forest; I hope I shall reside in my pack.” Her body shifted around before deciding what else to add – was there something else interesting to know about her recently discovered friend? Her ears perked briefly, deciding the perfect question to enquire with Kal. Fears! She grinned inwardly, yes that would be a perfect way to know more about her Kal-pal. In return she could explain her fears so….

“What, my dear; are the ten things you fear the most?” She enquired, “I’ll tell you mine in return.”
