aurora borealis- noun plural: An aurora that occurs in northern regions of the earth. Also called northern lights.

In the middle of a dense forest of coniferous trees lies the Aurora Borealis pack, its name coming from its location. At certain times of the year, the northern lights appear, dancing almost magically in the sky. A narrow trail leads you through the close evergreens. Giving into temptation, you begin moving your paws. By venturing into this territory, you are venturing into a land belonging to a pair of feared leaders. You have heard rumors of them...but you decide to take your chances and hope that the tales of blood and death are merely fabricated stories to scare wolves.

You have walked nearly five minutes before you realize the sound of paws stepping somewhere from behind. Deciding that you've made a mistake, you quickly turn around, but find that you cannot go any further. Standing before you is one of the mighty kings you've heard of. His blood red pelt clings over perfectly toned bands of muscle. But that isn't what causes such fear in your veins. One of his amber eyes has a horrid, bleeding scar across it, and his good eye seems to stare right through you. His face is expressionless, giving off none of his intentions. You cower away as his jaws part.

"I'm Hell Demon."

His voice was deep and cut through the air like a hot knife through butter. Right where he left off, another voice picks up from behind you. You whirl around and find yourself facing another male with steely muscles beneath his pelt, which seems to consist of every shade of brown. He had startled you, and you're amazed how you hadn't at all detected his approach.

"And I am Ghost...we're the alphas of Aurora Borealis."

His deep voice was laced thickly with a Native American accent. His own golden eyes are directing a harsh glare your way. Now you're caught in the middle...your breathing has become heavy in your panic and you're not sure which to face.

"You've foolishly trespassed into our territory. You face the one called Hell Demon's whose voice is once more addressing you. Get out, or become a corpse along our border."

It's obvious they mean business. So now it's up to you...take your chances and stay, or heed their warning and waste no time getting out with your life.

Leila

___________________________________________________________________________

After a light and airy chuckle, Leila listened as the brute answered her challenging words with equal rebellious words – of course he was alpha and so held the authority to do so… He had less concern of using such challenging lyrics however Leila knew that Kalgalath would do nothing to harm her. A grin brightened her features; stretching her obscure kissers back. “Of course, I would be quite capable of out matching you. You have much more muscle to carry and would tire ever so quickly… I am lighter but less strong – in a fight you would of course win.” She replied before muttering to herself mostly. “Though it pains me to admit it.” Leila had muscles but as naturally, Kalgalath was a brute… Although the spectre knew she had nothing to fear for she was not planning on ever engaging in such awful acts with a friend and Leila was positive Kalgalath was not either. The girl was content enough as remaining friends, enemies were not necessary just yet… Leila was rebellious but not enough that she would harm, or even attempt to harm a friend. The dark towers of her head swivelled to meet the following words. He regarded her earlier lyrics; obviously she had sparked curiosity inside of him…

Leila smiled and pondered over his questions for a few, tiresome moments. “I was thinking about home, Kally, the peculiar feelings that I was experiencing. It just feels odd to be engaged in pack life again…” Her distant words drew off before vibrant sun kissed eyes darted to meet his face. “I am glad, however. I am glad that I have met you and I am glad that it is you – not some stranger – accepting me into a pack. I am glad it is this pack, such beauty that I would not be able to see if I had not chosen it.” Feeling as though she had said enough, the maiden sighed and drew her lips in a smile – now, where was she going on this tour?

The headed off to the pack clearing and upon reaching their destination, Kalgalath explained about the Northern Lights. Her vibrant optics flew over the sky, expecting them to blossom with a cloud of lights… If only – but not that she had joined Aurora Borealis there was still a chance, a glimmer of hope – ever expanding. They remained here, for a while, lost in thoughts… The wind blew, ruffling her sooty pelt, tickling her swan-like muzzle, the scents of conifers, and the scents of wolves – oh it was amazing!

When the spectre decided to move on (eventually) and in the process ramping up their speed Kalgalath agreed. ‘You will see soon enough, beauty.’ The spectre’s eyes creased and her head tilted more profoundly. What did he mean? Was he nick-naming her, or perhaps was he saying that she would soon be in the presence of beauty? Shaking her head, Leila leapt after him. Her fluent limbs tore through the forest at an abrupt pace, when she caught up with him she remained by his side – she had no idea where she was going! The wind rammed against her and Leila had to resist letting out a puppy like howl. Kalgalath let out a few words that caused her to grin – show me what you’ve got. Her frame swerved uncomfortably to the right, falling slightly behind; but he had the advantage – he knew where he was going! It was like a physical test, she had to engage in leaping over logs which got her closer to Kalgalath and crawling under branches which put distance between them. In one final sprint, Leila managed to close the gap and was once more by his side. It was all she could do not to fall head first into the water!

After a few deeper breaths, Leila regained her structure and smile at him. “You’re not such a bad runner after all.” She giggled out, her bodice stretched out once and then she plodded over to Kalgalath. Water! That was just what she needed! However, before her descend her towers swivelled to greet his words… Her vibrant sun kissed eyes scanned the area before her, a calm lake was displayed and in the distance you could see Romance River, and somewhere following that river would be Staircase Falls; the place where she had first encountered Kalgalath. In response to his question, the girl nodded a few times with a confident air.

Leila walked off towards the water, her head reached down to drink and as she did so, a devious thought shrouded her mind. She turned her head, toes sinking into the water, and called for Kalgalath to come over her. Yep, she would have him. It was the perfect – although minor – trick. She attempted to swipe the grin from her maw and in return layer a placid smile. It didn’t work.
