Jaye let out a cough as her chest heaved painfully. The cold winter months had faded away to spring rather quickly and the old wolfess' body had not had enough time to heal from the sudden change. She had grown ill as her lungs filled with mucus and her body ached and grew tired. Jaye sighed as the coughing fit subsided and she continued on her way again. Slowly each paw carried her closer to the beach on the edge of the pack lands, a place away from others but still within the safety of the pack. Jaye had discovered the small group of cool rocks one day as she continued to memorize her home. Though she could not see it, she imagined it looked like a small nook within a cliff side where the sun couldn't reach, keeping it cool. The waves crashed nearby, but the area must be high enough that the water could not fill it in, though perhaps at one time it did. This groove in the cliff, this area of shadow and cold, had become Jaye's haven. A place all her own to go when she needed time to be alone or time to think and this was certainly one of those times. The blind wolf panted heavily as her paws reached the rocks and with a huff she had laid herself down to rest. Her chest ached painfully and she resisted the urge to cough again. Jaye was worried. Never before had she been sick and as she struggled to breathe without hacking. Something was wrong, but Jaye was no healer, she knew nothing about how to cure an illness or what to take to stop the cough. This is why she had come on her own, to think about what her next steps were. A pack needed every wolf to play their part and while it was true that Jaye was blind, she could still help in many ways. Being sick meant that she may be even more limited to her abilities and what if what she had was contagious. With new pups on the way, the last thing Jaye wanted was an epidemic on her hands. Should she leave or simply try to hide it so no one noticed? Jaye coughed again and gave a small sigh. Outside of the pack meant certain death, while inside meant she may be able to get help but at the risk of getting the others sick. What to do. Jaye whimpered quietly to herself and knew she had to tell Weylin at least. He would know what to do with her and the old wolfess would do whatever her grandson told her. There was another wolf Jaye needed to talk to. Dude had been gone for some time and the bond they shared was starting to make Jaye's heart ache with loneliness. She needed her imprint just as she was sure he needed her. Perhaps it was time to take a trip to see him or maybe he would find his way here soon. With her mind made up, Jaye moved slowly from her hiding spot towards the center of the pack lands to find Weylin. It would be a long trip on her tired paws as she was close to the borders here. Well, one step at a time.
