Ruieze Fields

Open fields and soft grass...
Ruieze stretches far in the midlands of Moladion, laced with streams that feed into Diveen and out of Asteraia at times. The fields are vast, filled with wildflowers and tall, soft grass; trees are sparse, as are rocks, but one can find small shrubs to hide amongst, and the grass itself. To the south of the fields, a Ruieze River widens, and the ground becomes sandy. There is a small, grassy island that can be reached from the banks, with water-birds often congregating on the island rather than the riverbanks.

I DON'T OWE YOU ANYTHING

He wanted nothing more then to believe that he felt nothing but disgust when he looked at her. Wanted to believe he felt nothing at all, even. Nothing was better. Easier. Nothing would allow him to just move on, away from this. From her. To look away, turn from her and pretend she did not exist. It's not working. He's still standing there and looking at her in those moments where she hasn't looks back at him. There was still time to just leave, get away before her words drag him in, down. He shouldn't let it get to that. It would cut him up, it would ache to the core. He would have to live with it if he did not go right now. He would have to forever feel conflicted. Why did he know this? It didn't make sense. It couldn't possibly happen that way, but this feeling deep down said... it would.

Her hackles had risen, and he knows she's seen him. Or she knew he was there. Precious few moments left before it all went to hell. He needed to get out of there, but he was still frozen. His limbs start to thaw, and he's about to bolt when she looks at him. Tears. And then the shaking and everything in his slumps, is weighted down. He feels suddenly heavy; upset, unhappy. He can't turn back from what he's seen now. He cannot erase it, it's in his memory for all time. It's pulling him apart on the inside. He hadn't expected this. It wasn't what he wanted and his throat was tight, and his heart was going through a pained jittering in his chest. He can't even walk away when she rounds on him, though he knows he should, that it could end badly. Didn't it always?

She's crazy, but he knew that. It doesn't phaze him one bit. And then the words come. It's worse. He didn't think it could be, but it is. It's so much worse then he could have imagined and it's all he can do to bite back a sob from working up in his throat. He won't let the sound come up. He can't; his throat is too tight. Cobryn doesn't move, but there's so much going on in his mind. He feels as if he's lost some great battle here and now after hearing the first words. She gets closer and still he makes no move. He can only look at her, wait for what comes next. It's more words that he listens to, and everything hurts. He wants to scream, to rage at her and yet nothing happens. He cannot force himself to do these things just now. He cannot do much of anything yet.

Maybe he was in shock. He thinks that he is, because why did she have to say these things to him? Why does he have to be here and listen to the words that only make it harder to hate her? He wants to, needs to. But now... he just can't. It doesn't work that way. It's bringing down those walls and Cobryn knows how dangerous that was. He was breaking, drowning. And then she touches. Breath rushes from him, and he can only stare at the way she recoiled, the tears that return to her eyes. He wants to cry, too. The need is in there, but his body isn't working right. The internal batting is going on, and he doesn't know what to do or how to feel. Doesn't know how to show those things once they come, once he can. He couldn't even pull himself away when he knew she'd been getting far too close to him. He'd never been good at that.

When she sinks to the ground, he can only blink. But it's the screaming that shakes him to his core. He pulls away, shaking his head, whimpers from low in his throat and he's panicking, his limbs jerking as he moves. It's choppy, each step he takes and he trembles visable. It takes him over from head to toe as Jaidah continues to scream. Cobryn suffers. He fumbles closer to her; needing. His body is half on the ground and he's crawling towards her that way; half mad. Then Jaidah was still and he's able to collect himself enough to stop moving to her. He remembers that he shouldn't, that he has to get away from her. Something holds him back, and he stares again. For minutes -- who knows how many? -- he stares. And then; "Are you? Sorry?" Low, hollow words.
