At the densest section of the forest, there is a brief clearing where a steady flow of water streams down the slippery stone staircase. The water here is cool and refreshing. Staircase Falls has been rumoured to be the place where reality is met by magic; where peaceful spirits dwell. They are rumoured to have healing powers that are used to help the desperately hurt, though no one has experienced this, except for, perhaps, Kaive.

The females heightened senses were enough to give her some sense of forewarning that something wasn't right today. She couldn't exactly identify what it was, but it was bothering her to no end. And then it hit her like a wave: The birds were silent. Usually, after she sat still for a period of time, they'd return to their melodious tunes, calling out to each other as they danced and leapt from tree to tree; today, however, she heard no such thing. Which lead her to one conclusion: The ebony femme wasn't alone out here.

A uncertain growl had resonated in her throat. If someone hadn't made themselves known by now she couldn't necessarily think they were safe. She couldn't take chances here; she had a pack to return to later. And she wasn't intending on returning in pieces. Decidedly, she crouched low to the ground, slipping forward silently like the predator she was. Her nares were now on the alert for any scent of her own kind; her ears perked up on her head alert for the slightest sound and her electric blue hues scanning each and every bush. She'd find out who was stalking her so.

The splash had alerted her first as she froze in position listening. It was followed by the sound of clumsy footsteps across the ground, then a soft thud, like someone had crashed to the ground. She shot forwards instantly. Now was better than ever, and she launched herself up onto a tree root, her nares telling her that someone lay on the other side. As she sat perched upon it, her suspicious gaze had instantly turned horrified. What had she stumbled upon?

A femme-she thought-lay sprawled across the ground. Blaze couldn't help but think the girl looked like something out of a macabre horror movie, with whatever beauty she may have had replaced with a scarred and disfigured mess. Closer inspection hinted that the girl was possibly blind as well: The cloudy film over her eyes. Her horror turned to sympathy. What could have possibly done this to the young femme?

Not moving from her position she called out softly, "Hello there. Do not be afraid, as I wish you no harm. I'm Blaze.". The words were offered in an attempt not to scare the femme further, as she pondered the best course of action here. Her mind told her the girl was probably diseased, and by associating herself Blaze was risking herself and her pack. Her heart, however, told her that it was just plain cruel to leave the girl in her world of agony, and if she did so then she'd be no better than the savages who had raised her, otherwise known as her parents.

She was stuck in a impossible position here: Be practical, or be moral?
