aurora borealis- noun plural: An aurora that occurs in northern regions of the earth. Also called northern lights.

In the middle of a dense forest of coniferous trees lies the Aurora Borealis pack, its name coming from its location. At certain times of the year, the northern lights appear, dancing almost magically in the sky. A narrow trail leads you through the close evergreens. Giving into temptation, you begin moving your paws. By venturing into this territory, you are venturing into a land belonging to a pair of feared leaders. You have heard rumors of them...but you decide to take your chances and hope that the tales of blood and death are merely fabricated stories to scare wolves.

You have walked nearly five minutes before you realize the sound of paws stepping somewhere from behind. Deciding that you've made a mistake, you quickly turn around, but find that you cannot go any further. Standing before you is one of the mighty kings you've heard of. His blood red pelt clings over perfectly toned bands of muscle. But that isn't what causes such fear in your veins. One of his amber eyes has a horrid, bleeding scar across it, and his good eye seems to stare right through you. His face is expressionless, giving off none of his intentions. You cower away as his jaws part.

"I'm Hell Demon."

His voice was deep and cut through the air like a hot knife through butter. Right where he left off, another voice picks up from behind you. You whirl around and find yourself facing another male with steely muscles beneath his pelt, which seems to consist of every shade of brown. He had startled you, and you're amazed how you hadn't at all detected his approach.

"And I am Ghost...we're the alphas of Aurora Borealis."

His deep voice was laced thickly with a Native American accent. His own golden eyes are directing a harsh glare your way. Now you're caught in the middle...your breathing has become heavy in your panic and you're not sure which to face.

"You've foolishly trespassed into our territory. You face the one called Hell Demon's whose voice is once more addressing you. Get out, or become a corpse along our border."

It's obvious they mean business. So now it's up to you...take your chances and stay, or heed their warning and waste no time getting out with your life.

Sinews gently shifted under the soft cloak of black fur, paws denting the damp earth from her slight weight. She had recently declined from the company of Kalgalath, an unknown brute and a stranger female. The harsh lyrics the king declared had startled Leila but they were veiled with wariness and fatigue. The enchantress had walked away once the brute had offered his service for a tour, three wolves was a crowd. She would seek out the female another time and find out if Kally’s doubts were really necessary though Leila suspected they actually weren’t. She understood that he simply wanted to best for his pack, it was understandable and the phantom would not knock him for that but she was still surprised at his words. She wouldn’t have been so direct. Maybe she just didn’t have the guts to do what he did. Leila didn’t dwell on the thought too much, he had been tired – he needed rest. His judgements would be less clouded next time. Leila would stand by his side no matter what, as his friend, as an active member of the pack, the phantom would not consider ever turning her life from this wonderful, beautiful land.

Leila had settled just before she entered the deeper cluster of conifers, her haunches were carefully placed in the growth of greenery. The world was motionless around her, peace and quiet caressing her body. It was such a beautiful land she had attached herself to. Birds sung melodies of pretty sounds that floated into the air and caught the diving wind. They hid in the trees, chirping away the day. Leila’s maw was fastened with a small, discreet smile. The air smelt of dying electricity. The rain had arrived and then departed. Rain drops beaded her pelt in a random pattern which then melded into a pool of dampness. There was nothing much to do. Tyson was probably off attacking bushes. Kalgalath was most likely required at the borders.

The days had been quiet since she had arrived here. Not a lot had occurred in the territory other than greeting two newcomers and befriending a young pup - but now what? Occasionally she would slip away from the pack’s soft grasp and travel to new area of Blossom Forest but she would always return to the territory of the Northern Lights. It was her home now and she couldn’t leave her home. She had little connections to her but when had that ever prevented her from doing anything?
