At the densest section of the forest, there is a brief clearing where a steady flow of water streams down the slippery stone staircase. The water here is cool and refreshing. Staircase Falls has been rumoured to be the place where reality is met by magic; where peaceful spirits dwell. They are rumoured to have healing powers that are used to help the desperately hurt, though no one has experienced this, except for, perhaps, Kaive.

Lucien
I Think We All Must Have Gone Mad
--------------------------------------------------
As her name, the name that he'd banished from his heart and mind for many moons, crossed his kissers, he saw immediate recognition in her eyes. Lucien couldn't believe that this was actually happening. Hadn't he given up on childish dreams, miracles, so long ago? His beliefs were returning with her. Maybe there was some faint chance of his happily ever after. Old wounds ached under the healing touch, and he swore that if he were to plunge off these very falls right now, he could fly away into the clouds.

“Yes, Lucien, I do. I have missed you in ways that only you could understand.” Oh, and understand he did. It was so much easier to miss someone who's fate was known to you; is was so much easier when you had a lifeless body in your sights, and the understanding that never again would you feel their warm touch against your pelt, their voice whispering in your ear. Not knowing was the ultimate curse, a plague of what-ifs. They chewed away at your insides, leaving nothing but doubt, like maybe you could've, should've done something different. "I know. I know." He whispered softly, remnants of pain in his low timbre. In that moment of silence, he could've sworn he felt it all pass between them. The nightmares, the broken hopes and dreams, the ghosts of the pasts, the uncertainty, everything. He had missed her so damn much.

“So how did you find me here brother?” The words, at first, didn't make sense as they passed through his current haze of happiness and disbelief. In this moment it was hard to feel like he'd ever been separated from Chenzii. "I live not far from here. It's a beautiful area." He breathed softly, her aroma once again washing over his senses. "And you, dear sister?" The scent of a pack clung to her fur; it didn't really matter which. He was just happy that she was alive and well. Other complications could arise later. Right now, it was them, and only them.
