And just like that, their first moment was over in less than a heartbeat. He seemed distracted, his gaze moving away from her to turn this way and that, seeming to take in the forest that which currently surrounded them. She willed him to turn back to her, and he did, though there was something different about his gaze in that first fraction of a moment. Just like that it was gone, replaced with a handsome smile of his and a shake of his head. He was speaking before she could think much more of it. His words brought her own smile to her jaw, but part of her mind still wondered at what had just happened not a moment before then. He had been distracted, but by what, she did not know. There were no others around, no wolves, no other entities. No scents lingered, and no sound had been heard. She wanted to ask him, and she had the feeling he would tell her if she did, but something caused her to refrain. Perhaps it was borne of her polite mannerisms, to not push one too hard upon first meeting to open up with honesty and full trust. It was a lot to ask of another, and Rhae did not want to scare Iblis away. But she doubted she could even if she tried. "Take from the rich and give to the poor.." the words were murmured in her gravelly tones, half to herself and half to the male before her. It was an old saying she learned long ago that she had always enjoyed, and it suited her knight perfectly. For that was what he truly was- her knight, her light and yet dark knight. Said words were accompanied by a soft, breathy chuckle. In terms of him ever putting her in danger, he recieved nothing on that end save for a subtle arched brow, as if to say might I really be unable to handle myself? it was nothing sarcastic or snide, it was simply the truth. Rhae knew her advantage over others, and had honed her skill further than she ever would have if she had simply remained as she was. The copper and creme lady knew better than most, and knew just what she was capable of. When he bowed his head to her once more before speaking, it was her time to reach out to him. Dipping low in order to find herself slightly below him, she nudged her muzzle upward against the bottom of his jaw, bringing his skull up and tilting his facial structure up, allowing her to gaze upon him again. But she did not pull away immediately. Instead, she lingered, drawing away ever slowly but keeping her muzzle pressed firmly to the side of his own. She cherished his touch, the sensation his fur caused against her own, his flesh against hers. It was still that ever present burning sensation, one considered more than just a tad pleasant. When he finally looked back upon her, she smiled at him, a reassuring, welcoming, and inviting one. She found his honesty both respectable and admirable, as well as contagious. "I have never known the comfort or warmth of family, of friends. I have never known what it is to find your other half." The words had never even crossed her mind, but Rhae found them the most honest words she had ever spoken in her entire life. "Until now." |
