aurora borealis- noun plural: An aurora that occurs in northern regions of the earth. Also called northern lights.

In the middle of a dense forest of coniferous trees lies the Aurora Borealis pack, its name coming from its location. At certain times of the year, the northern lights appear, dancing almost magically in the sky. A narrow trail leads you through the close evergreens. Giving into temptation, you begin moving your paws. By venturing into this territory, you are venturing into a land belonging to a pair of feared leaders. You have heard rumors of them...but you decide to take your chances and hope that the tales of blood and death are merely fabricated stories to scare wolves.

You have walked nearly five minutes before you realize the sound of paws stepping somewhere from behind. Deciding that you've made a mistake, you quickly turn around, but find that you cannot go any further. Standing before you is one of the mighty kings you've heard of. His blood red pelt clings over perfectly toned bands of muscle. But that isn't what causes such fear in your veins. One of his amber eyes has a horrid, bleeding scar across it, and his good eye seems to stare right through you. His face is expressionless, giving off none of his intentions. You cower away as his jaws part.

"I'm Hell Demon."

His voice was deep and cut through the air like a hot knife through butter. Right where he left off, another voice picks up from behind you. You whirl around and find yourself facing another male with steely muscles beneath his pelt, which seems to consist of every shade of brown. He had startled you, and you're amazed how you hadn't at all detected his approach.

"And I am Ghost...we're the alphas of Aurora Borealis."

His deep voice was laced thickly with a Native American accent. His own golden eyes are directing a harsh glare your way. Now you're caught in the middle...your breathing has become heavy in your panic and you're not sure which to face.

"You've foolishly trespassed into our territory. You face the one called Hell Demon's whose voice is once more addressing you. Get out, or become a corpse along our border."

It's obvious they mean business. So now it's up to you...take your chances and stay, or heed their warning and waste no time getting out with your life.

Something broke inside of him then, whether it was his mothers words or his sisters cries he did not know… His temper flared but he couldn’t do anything to show how he felt, not without rushing towards Kalgalath hoping that he could be accepted. He needed the love that only a father could offer but it was too late. His heart was caged in ice and steel. No one had broken him like this, but his heart only hardened more and melted at the same time. The loose ends of the emotional ball he had made were fraying and his emotions were about to boil over.

He caught movement from the corners of his eyes, Adara was confused. She knew not what to do and so he removed his brakes and moved towards her. His body sat close to hers their fur mingled and his head wrapped protectively around hers. He didn’t want to see her hurt and become like he had. His baby sister was the hope beacon in his black Hell. “But we only… it was one time… Did you.. I… I have children?” his stuttering words hurt his ears, he didn’t know about them one bit… Rohan couldn’t believe this and yet it seemed so true. But it was far from over…

Everyone but mother was confused, she was the one key to the truth and she was the only one who could say it. Adara’s pleading question broke Rohan and his father, “Yes, Adara… I… I think I am. I’m sorry, I was unaware that I had children. I didn’t know…” Rohan couldn’t understand this one bit. The brute didn’t stop there, he murmured a name and Rohan instantly knew who was mentioned, Aindreas. Rohan remembered their confrontation which hadn’t been pleasant to say the least. That was one thing he had figured out on his own, his brother. Kal kept rambling on and finally asked the key question, “You didn’t only have twins, did you?” Rohan shook his head in reply but no words could escape his mouth.

His mother was reacting in time to Kal, to his every whimper or question, “My dear. No, no there were three.” She jumped back at her own voice. Rohan stood up instantly waiting to see if she might need him but she seemed well enough. But her words unburied the lost truth, “Aindreas is your kin, as are my daughter, our daughter, Adara, and our son, Rohan. Nothing that I’ve done is any fault of theirs. You may hate me, but if you must, I beg you to do so silently. Like you, they are merely victims.” Rohan gasped slightly at her words, she had let out her pain, the truth she had held for so long. The mention of them being their son and daughter angered him. We were never both of your children. We were your children Nika. Kal was the father that never existed because you ran in fear. We never knew what a fathers love was or even is. I never understood what it was like to be a pup playing without fear. He paused to breath letting his words sink in, I met my brother, Aindreas. He doesn’t believe we are brothers because of this! By blood we a kin but we have no memories of each other! The brother I never had, the FATHER I never had. Maybe I’ll never understand why you did what you did but it hurts like Hell. Rohan inhaled sharply and sat on his own. He had lost it.
