Aplos Riverside

Moladion’s powerful, winding river...
Aplos River is a broad, slow-moving river originating from somewhere beneath the mountains of Spirane and feeding Iromar’s moors in the south. The northern parts of the river are known for their strong currents, with the water becoming slow moving in the south. The riverbanks vary along its course, ranging from soft hummock grasses to small groups of pine, and sometimes nothing but pebbles and sand. Crossing can be difficult at times, but it can be swam or bridged by fallen trees or boulders alike.

A warrior needed to fight, needed the thrill of battle to live. It coursed through their veins alongside the blood that gave them life. Iblis was no exception. He moved like a shadow in the pre-dawn light the morning before he went to war with Diveen. His stomached roared at him, begging for food but he denied it. The male knew he would need his senses sharp for the battle to come and if he were to feast now it would only make him slow and stupid. No, he would only eat after the battle had been won... or lost. Iblis remembered hearing about the fight between Iromar and Diveen from another loner. At once he made his way to the pack of angels and asked its queen if he could stand by their side and fight. She had gladly welcomed his fangs and even told him in could stay within their lands until the day. But Iblis, ever the loner, declined the invite and returned to the free lands that he called home. Three sleepless nights passed by as the restless warrior dreamed of war. He longed to sink his teeth into evil and banish the darkness from the land. How he wanted to destroy the Bloodmouth queen and taste her blood again. He felt that their last battle had gone unfinished as Fate had never declared a winner. Maybe now they could settle the score once and for all.

An owl hooted on a low branch in a tree Iblis was passing by and for a moment the wolf gazed up at the silent night time hunter. It was then that a sudden thought came to the lone warrior and it made his heart sink to his paws. This may be the last morning he lived to see. Death never really scared Iblis but it was the thought of who would miss him that did. Being a loner made things... well lonely. He didn't have a pack to remember his name and he had hardly any close friends who would really mourn his passing. No, there was only one person he could think of who would greatly miss him. Rhae, his beloved imprint. The bound that connected the pair tugged at his heart and Iblis longed to be with her all the sudden. He wanted to rub against her soft fur, inhale her scent, and get lost in her eyes. Rhae. She was the only one Iblis lived for now. She was the only reason he would come back... if he did come back. Iblis knew very well he was probably one of the most hated wolves in Iromar. At one time they had a price on his head after his attack on Ishtar. They would be happy to draw his blood and rip his flesh. But that was war. Wolves lived and wolves died.

Iblis stopped, but the woods around him continued. The sun was starting to rise, causing the sky to lighten into a dull gray-purple color. The birds sang their morning songs and wildlife was waking up all around him. Iblis stared at his paws and sighed deeply. There was always a chance he would not come back from this war alive. He may never see Rhae again. It was this that made him stop. He needed to say goodbye to her. Iblis turned around, moving away from Diveen, and headed back into the free lands to find his imprint. He knew it wouldn't take long. The bound they shared would pull him to her no matter how far apart they were. The battle was soon, but Iblis would not go until he said his farewells to Rhae. She deserved that much at least.
