Enocra Woodland

Pine, spruce and firs alike...
Dense coniferous forests cover the woodlands, with clearings, paths and the occasional wildberry shrub throughout. Pine, spruce and fir make up much of the forest in the east, with the forest becoming swampier in the west towards Mecor Valley. In the west, cypress trees dominate, with fallen trees creating bridges across and throughout the stillwaters.

Dimas wandered the lands, feeling more lost, more alone than he had ever felt in his few years. What he had found in Seren was more than he could ever have hoped for. That feeling that he would never be alone, that he would always feel whole as long as she was near him. But then she had run away from him. He had not chased her, thinking that it would not be so good to scare her away. But then a few days later, he had felt something in him vanish, leaving behind an empty hole. He hadn’t even known that something had been there until it was missing. It had left him so torn, that he had frozen in his tracks, unable to move for the hollowness he felt. As the days passed, the pain had lessened, going from agony to a dull ache that he couldn’t quite ignore. He couldn’t quite seem to find his enthusiasm as easily as he had before.

This day found him relaxing in the forest. He found the woods quite peaceful, with the calling birds above him and the rush of wind through the leaves. The air had a bite to it lately that he found most satisfying, it fitting his mood quite well. He was aware of the fact that he was wallowing and being overdramatic, but it wasn’t like there was anyone around to see him.

And suddenly, there was.

Dimas sat up as a small female came into view. She was small enough – and slightly disproportioned – that she must not be fully grown yet. As soon as she appeared she stumbled and really made a valiant effort to catch herself before failing. He stood, his face becoming a strange mix of amusement and concern.

She was looking at her legs in a frustrated manner, which only fed his amusement further. He stayed silent, not knowing whether to offer his help or to pretend he hadn’t noticed her fall. Before he could decide what to do, however, she rose to her own feet and looked around, seeing him standing there awkwardly.

“Oh, um. I’m Dimas. I was just standing here and then um…well…are you okay?” He shifted his weight slightly. He didn’t want to embarrass her but he couldn’t pretend he didn’t see her fall since he was standing right here. Well there was nothing he could do, he had tripped over his tongue as usual.

The ache in his chest was less noticeable now, company, however brief it might be, dulling the pain. Perhaps all he had needed was a distraction. After all, he had never been good with being on his own.
