_________________________________________________________________________ The pup had decided to go on an adventure and venture outside of Aurora Borealis territory. She didn’t think to tell her mother or brother, she wanted to do this on her own. The pup was still young enough to not realize how dangerous the world beyond her home was and that she was not assured safety out beyond its borders. The curious pup was heading nowhere in particular, just exploring. Her white ears were alert, listening to all the sounds of the forest. Her little nose to the ground, experiencing as many scents as she could, not paying any attention to where her paws were taking her. Then Khaleesi’s bright green orbs spotted movement in the leaves, and she paused to see what was lurking about. She spotted a field mouse collecting food to store for the winter. The pup lowered her body to the ground, preparing to stalk her prey. The pup thought to what her mother had taught her about walking and did her best to remain silent. The small femme watched where her paws were going carefully, not wanting to step on any leaves or twigs and alert the mouse to her approach. The pup carelessly did not pay attention to where she was going, losing her whereabouts easily. The fae got ready to pounce, her rump raising into the air, eyes alert and watching the rodent. With a small growl she leapt, paws outstretched, hoping to make contact with the flesh of her prey. Unfortunately, Khaleesi was still very inexperienced and moved too slowly, giving the mouse plenty of time to run off and escape. The pup sighed, tail drooping with disappointment. Khaleesi decided it was time to head back home, hungry after her failed hunt and wanting to get some dinner with her family. The pup looked around, trying to figure out which direction would take her home, but she had gotten herself lost. For one of the first times Khaleesi felt fear. She didn’t know what direction to begin heading and a whimper escaped her throat, wishing her mom was there to protect her. Then something caught the pup’s eyes, a cave. Well I went out to go exploring, might as well explore some more! Khaleesi thought. Her fears of being lost disappeared with the excitement of more exploring and adventure. She bounded forward, large clumsy paws heading towards the cavern. The temperature dropped and water dripped from the ceiling, making puddles on the ground, as Khaleesi entered the unknown area. She shivered slightly, but continued walking, more slowly this time. The white pup sniffed around, finding no signs of life in the caves, green eyes glowing in the darkness as she considered leaving and trying again to find her way home. ________________________________________________________________________ |
