The night was cold. The bitter breeze stretched through the forests, climbing the trees and making leaves fall like a giant frosty breath from a creature. It suffocated limbs, wrapping itself around something warm before penetrating the body and chilling the bone, separating the good from the evil. Frost glistened on the edges of the fallen leaves, inhabited by tiny figures that resembled snowflakes. Edges of white caught the moonlight and shone in every invisible direction, always visible but too tiny for anyone to notice. A vixen trotted close to pack territory, her steps keeping her mind away from the shivers that were sent rippling up her spine. Her black pelt blended into the obscured wood. She glanced ahead over the trees, her amber gaze melting away the frost like a scrutiny. She let out a breath before proceeding ahead into the darkness.
The scents of everything swallowed her into a wind of being; both unique and extraordinary. The vixen laced her tail over her back paws, curious of what was going to lay ahead. Abendrot was her and her partner’s destination, towering over the trees like a powerful army. Despite the intimidation, the vixen stood tall, fingering through the air with her mind, trying to find the lands she needed to see. Business and tactics raced through her head, starving for a grasp on the ess’s thoughts. She waited until she heard the other vixen’s pace was right behind hers, and then she continued on her walk. Soon, the borders stumbled over her and she sat down, scenting a wolf coming from over the bend. Her auds flickering, hearing the echoing of voices far, far into the land.
The ess raised her head, hearing a set of paws trot hastily through the fallen leaves, making their way to the the pair of them. She stood tall and respectfully, her thoughts and plans smoothing. She pinpointed his scent before he appeared forward in the trees, and her eyes glistened with anticipation. Her ears flickered once more as Kershov began to speak. His tone was even, if a little practiced, and seemed filled with ease. “And to what do I owe the pleasure of your company tonight, emissaries of Aurora? We were not expecting you . . .” The vixen nodded and smiled. “I must apologize; we did arrive very unexpectedly. I am Magic, this being my partner Chenzii.” The lady straightened herself after being introduced, one of her secrets letting out into the cold night air. She continued. “We have come to explore on an issue Aurora has encountered. A wolf in our midst was gone missing, his whereabouts we are still uncertain of.” Her voice was smooth as honey as she continued explaining the plan that was to be going on in her mind.
“I must apologize again. This wolf...he is...peculiar. He has unfinished business back at Aurora, and he must not escape again. I am sure he would not be honored enough to come here in your mysterious land, but we still have to make sure he has not dared to do so. Now, we must ask that we could search the area for his traces? Of course, it could be under your supervision; anyone who would do something unintellegent in your presence clearly has not had any source of a predicament.” She lashed her tail over her paws, straightening higher. “With your permission and guidance, we ask simply to walk through your territory.”
