I found the task of taking a pup out on a hunting expedition to be far more daunting than the spar I had already participated in. Where I hadn�t necessarily expected everything Amir had thrown at me, the prospect of tooth and nail colliding was far easier to deal with than being responsible for the life of a pup. Not only that, but I had invited young Ambrosia to go on this outing with me. She was the niece of my queen, the daughter of the formidable Azrael and lovely Andromeda. If something went wrong, I would most certainly pay for it with my throat. My nerves had me up before dawn, and rather than waste the possibility of a good hunt in the early hours I went to the den of the two well known wolves and quietly summoned Ambrosia, hoping not to bother the rest of her family.

Once she had joined me, I greeted her with a silent nudge to her shoulder and an encouraging smile before setting off at a steady jog. The trail I followed brought us northwest, crossing the borders while the sun was still below the horizon. Rather than the obvious, closer option of Ruieze Fields, I had decided we would make our way to Enocra Woodlands. Hopefully Ambrosia would be excited to see a part of Moladion that was more than likely foreign to her. And I had a feeling that at this colder time of the year, we would be more successful in finding prey to hunt there.

Not long after we had officially left Diveen, I slowed my pace just a little bit, turning my gaze towards Ambrosia as we jogged along. �Dawn is a great time to hunt,� I said, hoping she was eager to learn about hunting. I wasn�t sure how much she already knew, so I figured I would start from the beginning. �Some prey will just be waking, while nocturnal creatures will just be settling for their daily slumber. In both cases, you have a tired animal that isn�t at one hundred percent attention.� We continued along, growing closer to the woodlands with every stride. I could just now see the dark outline of the trees in the distance. The sun was just beginning to cause a lighter blue band grow along the horizon. We still had plenty of time to reach the woods and settle into a good location to stalk our chosen prey.

�A few nocturnal animals that we might keep our noses tuned for are raccoons and opossums. Finding an opossum on the ground is a rarity though. And as far as waking animals; rabbits and squirrels might be about after the sun gets a little higher. What do you think?� I glanced at her again, wanting her to have some input on her lesson. The treeline was ever closer now, and soon we would breach the forest and begin our hunt.
