Aplos Riverside

Moladion’s powerful, winding river...
Aplos River is a broad, slow-moving river originating from somewhere beneath the mountains of Spirane and feeding Iromar’s moors in the south. The northern parts of the river are known for their strong currents, with the water becoming slow moving in the south. The riverbanks vary along its course, ranging from soft hummock grasses to small groups of pine, and sometimes nothing but pebbles and sand. Crossing can be difficult at times, but it can be swam or bridged by fallen trees or boulders alike.

goes the clock, we laughed at fate and mourned her, tick tock goes the clock even for the monster

The Monster was unaware of her lineage. She did not know anything about those that had lived on before her. Her very own parents didn’t want her for some reason she could not understand. The very first things she heard were the snarls of discontent and hatred being directed at her by her Mother. The first thing she tasted was not milk, but blood. She tried getting milk from her Mother, like she was supposed, but she was unable so she cried and howled until her annoyance brought her the nectar that would keep her alive. The very first thing she saw were the very sharp teeth coming towards her as those sharp teeth dug into her neck as her small body was thrown out of the den and into the world. While out in the open, she met the massive figure that was her Father and he shoved her away when she tried to crawl back into the warm cozy den, it wasn’t the safest thing to be in, but it was the only thing she knew. But clearly her presence wouldn’t be tolerated anymore and so she was chased out. She still bore those scars from her parents, their bite marks on her hackles, and her inability to understand just who and what she was. Being so young and out in the world, alone, made her vulnerable. There was only one time she could recall that someone had shown her kindness. One her first night alone she was picked up by a grey wolf with odd bright colorful markings along her chest and side. She took her to another den, the stench of stillborn pups was in the air, and she was willing to let her taste her milk. She didn’t talk much, but when she did it was in a language she didn’t understand, but after sticking around she learned rather quickly. She remembered the stories she told, claiming that she would take her with her to another land with a pack, where she would be welcomed with the Angels, but it seemed like that would never happen. Before the age of one that kind old wolf was killed by a pack of rouges, so all thoughts of traveling to new lands where they spoke this language was long gone. Instead it was the beginning of her hard life, forever alone.

In her many adventures through her young life she met a variety of different wolves. Most of the time they left her alone not coming close to her. Yet there were always some that felt the need to approach her, why she didn’t quite know. There were times when she appreciated the company, especially when certain terrain required an ally or two from larger predators. Though that appreciation would quickly turn into mild toleration. She couldn’t stand to be beside a fellow lupine for very long without wanting to attack and chase them away. Some wolves she came across were friendly, others were nasty, and then there were the ones that thought highly of themselves. Those wolves deserved to be shoved off a mountain into a pool of lava. Many of the wolves she met that considered themselves above all others were members of a pack, which began her dislike with anyone that associated themselves with a pack. And lo and behold the creature that dared to bother her while she was eating her meal was just one of those wolves that deserved to drown in molten hot lava. Sapphire- purple eyes narrowed as the girl walked along the ground, as if she owned the place. Growling she returned to her rabbit ignoring the girl completely. She didn’t deserve the time of day and her meal was getting rather cold. As she happily dugs into her meal, her torn off right ear would twitch as she heard that old language she hadn’t heard since she was a puppy. Those cold eyes shifted upwards, her dial raised as blood dripped from her long muzzle. She lay there in complete silence as she wondered just how this one knew the language. She wanted to ask, but the attitude the other was wearing, for some reason she doubted she would get her answers through polite conversation. So, with a low growl, her cold tone held a gruff sound to it, it had been awhile since she spoke in this odd language.

“Non es dignus tu nomen meum scire. Cum tu potest esse reverens nominis mei tum scias.”

You do not deserve to know my name. When you can be respectful, then you may know my name. It didn’t occur to her that the fact she knew this language would bring utter disdain or shock from the other. Even she wasn’t aware that this language wasn’t allowed to be spoken to those that did not belong. No one really told her, and she wasn’t aware of the packs here. After all, she was a loner and she was in no need to be a part of a pack, especially if it produced self-obsessed pups like this one. Lowering her dial she returned to her half eaten rabbit, her sharp teeth tearing through the skin and grabbing the tender meat inside. She ignored the way the girl looked at her with disdain. A kill was a kill and food was food. Surely being a part of a pack, the poor girl must not know how to hunt by herself, a true shame, but sadly she was in no mood to share, especially with an ugly self-obsessed girl like her. The jagged three-clawed scar gleamed underneath the moonlight above, as sinister shadows began to draw themselves on the gruesome creature. She was no Angel nor was she a Demon. She was a Monster through and through and this Monster was hungry and not in a jocose mood.
