The fish was hardly enough to fill her aching stomach, so she raised her paw again, attempting to focus on the water, but her thoughts wandered. She was a bad, bad mother. She somehow wasn't a bad auntie, but she was a terrible mum. She was selfish, and you can't get far with raising your kid if you are that way. She ran away when times were hardest, and she regretted that now. Though she might have ended up dead like that unfortunate she-wolf who had been used as a cover-up for her absence, - she couldn't help but think that technically she was a murderer - but at least she would have done what any better mother would have done; protected their child. Instead, she left her daughter to be abused some more, then thrown out and tested on by crazed humans, then kill her own sister, though not through her own will, then witness her friend's suicide, starve herself, partly out of free will, and get separated from her dragon. She blamed herself for all of this, because if she had just stuck around for a while longer...

Flame Flower snarled and spun round as a friendly voice interrupted her troubled thoughts. She unbalanced, and, after a short struggle against gravity, felt herself being pulled towards the river. Her bulky body was off the ground for a heartbeat, until she felt the cold seeping feeling of water that started first at her shoulder, and then ran down her body until she was submerged completely in the moving liquid. It was lucky, though that she could swim. Her head burst from the surface, a panicked look on her face, and she was almost briefly amused at the irony of the situation. All the that the ocelot that had approached her was trying to do was to be friendly.
