Ruieze Fields

Open fields and soft grass...
Ruieze stretches far in the midlands of Moladion, laced with streams that feed into Diveen and out of Asteraia at times. The fields are vast, filled with wildflowers and tall, soft grass; trees are sparse, as are rocks, but one can find small shrubs to hide amongst, and the grass itself. To the south of the fields, a Ruieze River widens, and the ground becomes sandy. There is a small, grassy island that can be reached from the banks, with water-birds often congregating on the island rather than the riverbanks.

Winter was nice, but it was boring! Gaia sat at the mouth of the den she shared with her family, gazing out at the quiet forest. Once again, Mom and Dad had gone out leaving the pups to play by the den. Of course the pup's curiosity made it hard for her to stay right by the den and every day she moved further and further away from her home. The world was huge and just begging to be explored. So far, Gaia had the woods that surrounded the den memorized as she had seen almost every bit of it in her travels. Today would be the day she found out what things were like outside of the trees. The pups waited until she was sure her parents were well and gone and then let the adventure begin. The russet girl moved in the heavy snow to the south where she had seen a several wolves move towards when they came to the woods.

The going was hard as her bowed back legs made walking in the snow difficult and Gaia had to rest many times along her journey. By midday she had come to the edge of the woods and a vast field stretched before her. Bi-colored eyes saw took in the area as the pup gasped in amazement. It was so big! With a giggle, she bounded into the field and towards the place where she had seen all the wolves. Gaia didn't know that she was nearing Diveen but the smell of what seemed to be hundreds of wolves made her skid to a halt. This place was strange and though there wasn't anyone in sight now she got the feeling someone was watching her every move. With a small whimper, Gaia moved away from the Empire of Angels. The lake was her new destination now. It hadn't taken her nearly as long as she thought it would since the fields were mostly flat land.

Heavy pants left the pups mouth as she stood on the edge of the frozen lake. She had travelled a lot and her legs ached painfully. With a grunt, she laid down to rest her weary paws. Gaia wondered if all wolves had this problem. Cae didn't seem to limp after walking or playing. Was he the broken one or was she? Oh well, what did it matter? To the child, she all was well with the world. She had loving parents, a safe place to sleep, and a brother who was her best friend. Life was good and it was going to get better. The adventure must continue! Her goal was the little island in the middle of the lake and just as soon as her legs calmed down. However, there were another pair of eyes watching Gaia and the pup was in for a nice surprise.
