Gaia was used to having a silent protector follow her through the world. Her older brother, Cae, was always there to watch out for his sister. Today, however, he was nowhere to be seen and yet Gaia could feel eyes upon her back. When Seir appeared from the shadows of the bushes he had been walking in the russet female was not surprised or put off. She moved towards her new friend all the while tears streamed down her face and small whimpers escaped her throat. She was tired and in pain and hungry and lost and scared. A whirlwind of emotions swirled around her very young mind and it was almost too much for Gaia to bear. Luckily she wouldn't have to do so alone.

Seir was there, her shadow and guardian, to comfort her in the only way he knew how. A stream of incoherent words poured from her mouth as panic started to engulf her. It was the sudden growl from the other pup that silenced her. It was a normal sound to be made by a wolf but one that she wasn't quite used to. It wasn't a nasty growl like an angry wolf makes but more like the sound an elder makes to a rowdy pup. Gaia felt herself calming down as she saw Speckles knew what to do. He was going to save her.

A small butterfly fluttered around within Gaia's belly as she felt the first twinge of Puppy Love. It was a warm and happy feeling deep within her gut that made her want to be closer to the dark male. So she did. As he gazed about the area the smaller girl moved to sit next to him, her fur brushing up against his. Then he lifted his muzzle and howled to the sky. It was a chilling sound.

It spoke of a lost child seeking his mother for protection. Gaia's ears sat up as she listed to Seir then she gasped. Of course! Mommy and Daddy could be close by. Her friend was smart and the fluttering happened again. She giggled quietly, pressing herself closer to Speckles and raised her muzzle as well. Her high pitched song carried with Seir's and together they sang a duet for the world to hear. And for another to hear. Someone who may or may not be happy to find her daughter sitting with a wolf born of darkness.
