Scars Are Like Roadmaps

It's okay for you to hate me
For all the things i've done
I've made a few mistakes,
But i'm not the only one

He had been awake for hours staring at the moonlight as it glistened across the sea. At night everything was a little tamer, whether it be his surroundings, his new home and the stirring within his heart. So much had changed since the arrival of his daughter, so much and yet so little. His lack of communication had caused him to still not have a strong bond with Skylar. He spent most of his time studying her and recently their child together. He had so many questions and words to just simply say and yet – no words would come. The strange predicament left him to be awkward and distant – even more so now that he had another child on the way.

The thought brought joy and fear as the pale brute moved to the right and up seeking shelter in the clump of palm trees. He settled himself deep within the small forest and turned so he was facing the sea and golden shoreline. This place was truly a paradise- in every way. It’s climate was to be desired, it’s sunrises and sunsets along with the moonlight took your breath away. Even though it was rather empty with just a few equines residing here Lyden assumed it could be packed and still it would bring a sense of calm to each individual. Yes, Lyden understood why all his relatives fought so hard to keep this place running in the family, what he didn’t understand was why his father was so quick to let it go.

Sighing Lyden for just a moment closed his icy sapphire eyes thinking of his family, of the paradise and of Skylar. Her image came into his mind along with Accalia’s and the wonder of what the new foal would be. The thud in his heart began to slow with the long deep breaths rising from his chest and before he knew it Lyden fell asleep—

Apollo’s rays peaking over the horizon is what woke him aburtly. Shaking his head the pale beast took a second to figure out what he did and just when this happened skylar walked past him. His auditves went forward notcing that still after so long the girl looked lonesome and lost. Lyden wondered if she still longed to go back to the peak, at least that’s where he thought he remembered her saying she use to live. Accalia wasn’t anywhere near which worried Lyden but before he could force his legs into action so he could speak with Skylar and discuss his recent thoughts and feelings Sahin bean him to her.

Shaking his head Lyden wasted no time closing the gap between the duo and himself coming along side of her and offering a gentle, comforting nudge on her shoulder. A touch so delicate and rare that Lyden didn’t ever think he would give to someone else. His gaze matched her own hoping that after this they could walk together- alone. There were things that needed to be said, Skylar had a right to get to know him more, if she wanted. Lyden was practically begging to get to know her more- it was the one thing he should have done long ago.

”good morning beautiful” his words were soft and sounded strange rolling from his tongue. Since when did Lyden become such a mushy mess? The question puzzled the normally stone cold man as his gaze went to the aureate soldier. He nodded respectfully to him ”good morning sahin”
