Aplos Riverside

Moladion’s powerful, winding river...
Aplos River is a broad, slow-moving river originating from somewhere beneath the mountains of Spirane and feeding Iromar’s moors in the south. The northern parts of the river are known for their strong currents, with the water becoming slow moving in the south. The riverbanks vary along its course, ranging from soft hummock grasses to small groups of pine, and sometimes nothing but pebbles and sand. Crossing can be difficult at times, but it can be swam or bridged by fallen trees or boulders alike.

Oh such grace! Oh such beauty!
And lipstick, and callous
and fishnets and malice

Harridan had kept largely to herself, which was a surprise to those who knew the clever little imp. Her petuchlance for trouble kept mostly at bay by her two girls who were fast approaching their second year of life and the devious plans of her not-quite-mate Abraxus who she would probably follow to the end of her life. Or his. Even if she did get bored with him, he would probably end up following her on whatever adventures she may embark on. Though he claimed indifference, Harridan knew very well how much he cared for her. They were not youths anymore, in fact, Harridan saw just the beginning of additional silver added to her own muzzle as Time declared her days of summer shortening. It did not bother her too much. For once, the loner was quite content. She had raised three girls to at least their first year. Virago, her child by Caius, was certainly out there past the borders of Moladion doing what her bloodline dictated she must: survive. Maud and Scallywag were growing rapidly, showing all the prowness and strength of their sire while having the inquisitive mind of their mother. It was not hard to see that both of them would outgrow their mother, a fact that Harridan was inwardly sour about. What mother wanted their children to physically remind them that they were adults? No one.

Either way, she had decided to pay the river a visit to see if they had any fish that wanted to escape their lives of water and river grass. To her great disappointment, there had been none that were worth pulling up. She must of missed the spawning of the great big ones that she had eaten before and the water was much too cold for her to really want to go wading out to attempt to get the bigger fish. So she had contented herself resting under some of the trees that lined the riverside, and watching the world pass her by in peaceful thoughts. Neither Maud or Scallywag were around to bother her--both most likely exploring their own world and fulfilling the one destiny they were given at their birth: survive. Still, she knew they were children and would probably stalk them quietly later on.

The amber eyes snap in the direction of Enderly as he approaches. It was the noise of his feet she heard before the smooth voice that seemed to be talking about her. She tilted her head and considered him for a moment before glancing around her. Deciding she was alone, and that his words of praise were clearly about herself there was a small grin on her features. "Flattery will only get you so far, stranger." She pauses and the grin spreads across her mouth with an almost devious nature to it. "But a rabbit will get you farther." It was no secret to anyone that rabbits were by far her favorite fare. Still, it was a lot of energy to catch one for herself and why spend all that if there was a handsome young wolf ready to prove his worth? She was clearly a tease, and a creature that really lived on the edge of life or death. Brushes with the dangerous reminded her how much she enjoyed being alive. The adrenaline pumping through her veins at those moments were far better than even winter time activities. Harridan considers him with her amber red eyes, wondering just how he would react.
