Georgie
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
It was like an old picture, pulled out of one’s memory from long ago - the kind that turn up with a glitch, as if something that shouldn’t have been there… was. The fire quilted lady wasn’t unfamiliar to friendly boys, in fact almost all of them came across that way. Charming, cocky but ever so determined to please. So, if the situation wasn’t unfamiliar why did she feel as if she was walking blind? An interaction she’d been through nigh a hundred times but there was that glitch, the fault in the scene that should have a script. And it wasn’t really what the wolf said - I felt too constrained living with my father and all of my siblings, I needed my own life, wasn’t that what she had done, “branch off” a bit? It was how he said it: smile tight, eyes distant… an edge. Ah, but those warning signs never really work the first time do they? For as soon as the red brujo continued on expertly, Georgie was already hooked (as much on his subtle edge as the charming eloquence). Are you hungry, Miss Georgie? If you want, I will fish out some delicacies whilst you tell me just where you have come from. A soft giggle tinkered through the air - betraying her youth. Please, Akuji, just Georgie is fine. Experience from young adolescence only had a half stake in her own converse, she’d been born charismatic and just plain lovely - always finding happiness herself in others’ joy.
Fish. The young mistress knew about fish though she had never tried one. The flowing river ran crystalline clear and all together enticing: Well that would be very kind of you sir, she said. She wasn’t shy and she never had been, there was already a note of happy playfulness in the young duchess’ lyrics. Raised eyebrows seemed to open her features, bright and warm; there was no adolescent awkwardness here, they both knew how the game went. Only for Georgie it wasn’t a game, she was too sincere of a girl to play with hearts. There was one thing left out, besides her light smile and warm eyes; another red light it should have been, for the lean angel was no princess, she would normally have begged this kind stranger to show her how to catch one. It just felt more… right to sit, pretty and useless so unlike her.
Then she remembered he’d asked about her. Well, what could she say? Talking about oneself was never a comfortable thing unless you were loaded on egotism and such. Nevertheless, the femme felt it safer to keep the silence away. Where I’ve come from? Hmm… well it’s very far - I wouldn’t be able to find my way back if I tried, I think. That much was true; she was on a one way train though the destinations were infinite. It’s a tad warmer where I come from, now I’ve got all this extra fluff, she pretended to laugh it off, but even the beautiful wail in despair that they may not be good enough. A shameful vanity and weakness, but Georgie suddenly wanted this new boy to know that she was slim (absolute nonsense of course, she was leaner than normal even with all her “extra” fur). Nothing special really though, Akuji. Just a grassland far, far away from here.
