Snowflakes were such interesting tiny things. I studied one that had settled upon my paw, comparing it to another that rested just beyond it on one of my claws. I was practically going cross eyed trying to work out the details of each flake, and I would probably appear quite comical to a passerby. But that did not bother me, or even really cross my mind. Eventually the tiny specimens melted away, and I shook my head. Lifting my gaze, my eyes refocused to the bigger world around me. It was early in the morning, just after dawn, and the water off our coast was all but still. A hazy mist hung over the crystalline body, and snow clung to the tall tussock grass that grew closest to the shore. It was at the edge of these grasses that I lay, paws just beneath my nose so that I could get the closest look at the snowflakes as possible.
Now that they had melted from my vision, I stretched my paws out in front of me and flexed my toes. I pushed my hindquarters towards the sky and yawned as I stretched my entire bodice. Lowering my posterior back towards the ground, I rolled onto my side in the snow. If it weren’t for the grey that cloaked my back and head I would surely blend perfectly with my surroundings. Licking at the inside of my foreleg, I began grooming myself, content to listen to the winter birds as they woke for the day.
Every once in a while I would lift my eyes mid-stroke to watch the waters before me. The haze of fog was slowly beginning to dissipate as the sun climbed ever higher in the sky. Ears flicked to and fro every so often, wondering if anyone else of Glorall was awake yet. I did not mind being alone, but I would not argue against a bit of company either.
