The Grotto

Disaster has struck!
Years ago, an earthquake broke open several entrances into a deep, winding series of subterranean systems. It was thought that deep below, underground rivers snaked their way below Moladion. Now, flooding in the Northern reaches of Moladion has proven this theory to be true.

The Grotto is almost entirely submerged. Many of the entrances are completely inaccessible, and those that are only extend a few hundred feet before ending in water. The lower entrances, however, act almost like a giant drain for Moladion. Water pours down into the Grotto's maw as powerful rapids and waterfalls, and large amounts of debris have build up throughout the area. It can be exceptionally dangerous to travel due to the risk of flash-flooding and dams suddenly breaking, but the Grotto does offer the most consistent access across the floodwaters because of those dams.

Note:The Grotto will return to normal once 25 posts have been completed (or at Staff discretion). During this time, new threads will receive a 'Surprise','Disaster', and prizes.

All of my life I had enjoyed dancing about the rocks along the coast of Glorall. Since I had been old enough to walk, and mother and father had let me out of their sights for any length of time, I had explored the rocky portions of the seaside pack lands. I suppose that would explain why, more frequently than not, when I did venture away from Glorall, I found myself at the crags. I had been on my way there when I noticed a path I had never explored before. Pausing, I turned my attention towards the trail. Sniffing the air, I could tell many wolves had passed through the area. Why had I never seen it before? Laden with curiosity, I followed the passage.

I found myself trekking through a system of caves, and my heart was pumping with excitement. There was so much to explore down here. I worked my way further down and through the caves, the light still ricocheting off surfaces enough to light my way. After some time, I reached a wide cave with a hole through its roof. Light shone down through the caves above and glistened off the pool of water that fell right below the opening. Water trickled from the gap as well.

Moving forward, I stepped down off a large rock into the shallow edges of the pool. Lifting my cloaked tiara, I reached forward with my nose until the trickling water dripped down over my forehead. This was divine! Lowering my head, I shook the droplets from between my ears and turned my attention back to the pool. Gingerly I stepped forward, testing each step as I proceeded. The water slowly got deeper, reaching up to my chest, but never deeper. Some part of me had hoped it would drop off at some point so I could properly swim, but that probably was not possible down here. As I moved through the water, I looked back to the gape in the ceiling of the cave, wondering how far down these caves went, and how deep I had ventured. The thought that I might have trouble finding my way back out did not occur to me. I was too busy enjoying the simple pleasure of the cool, fresh water that I waded through.
