The forest stands tall and lush here; ancient trees reach weather-twisted arms to the sky, fighting monster-like storm clouds back with their interlacing fingers. Shadow seems to lurk everywhere you look, but it spills calmly, coolly, inspiring a sense of stealthy calm or protection rather than unease. That is, if you've forgotten what kind of creature might be stalking just out of sight...Abendrot is a land cradled by the dark woods on all sides; in the center, some of the larger trees stay behind to reveal a small plateau - a citadel where this pack can gather and defend itself from invaders. There are, of course, softer sides to the land. Clearings here and there allow the sun to throw down its rays in incongruously resplendent gold showers. Ignore the lingering scents of blood spattered here and there along the borders: those do not concern you. The river on one edge of the territory is playful enough when it hasn't been gorged by violent rain. You can choose to note the ragged claw marks raked down tree trunks and the forest floor as friendly "Home Sweet Home" signs, if you wish.

All who treasure loyalty, order, victory, and the occasional indulgence of raw visceral pleasure are welcome, once they've been approved by the ever-watchful eyes of Abendrot's Alpha. But keep one thing in mind: no matter what your motive, this is not a fool's Paradise. This is the land of soldiers, assassins, and spies. This is ABENDROT.

Make up your mind quickly and prepare to prove your worth. You wouldn't want to add to those blood spatters, would you...?

All That I See, Absolute Horror

_________________________________________________________________________

The multi-hued dragoness wandered through the lands in a mood, like she often was. She still was not sure if she wanted to join a pack, but she knew that it would be best for her family. She had raised her kin to their teens, had been the only influence in their life, besides their father, for the most impressionable part of their lives and that was what was most important. Azula had decided not to join a pack when she wandered to Blossom Forest for the first time. She wanted to raise her pups, to be the one that would lead them and show them how to live and how to behave. She did not want some alpha coming in, telling her what to do in front of her kin when they were so young. They needed to see that she was strong and powerful, that she did not need to submit to someone to survive. The thought of having to submit to an alpha made her sick and an annoyed growl escaped from her throat as she trotted through the trees. All she had to do was raise her head look at her son, Felan, confidently walking ahead, and her fearful daughter, Corde, to know that she would do it. She would do anything for her young, even if it made her stomach turn.

And so the family walked through the trees, her young son acting the part as leader when really they should be following the other female, Hestia, to her pack. But the scents were strong enough and she hoped that her son was following it, tracking the scent of Abendrot to the borders. Felan was still young though and would have much to learn about pack life, something that Azula could not teach them, and so they would all have to learn together. The multi-hued warrior trotted closer to her daughter, talking quietly to her for a moment, using gentler words that she only used around Corde. ”Be brave Corde. I’ll be there to protect you don’t worry.” She knew how fearful her daughter was and she would not ignore that fact even though she wanted her to be brave and fearless. After an encouraging word with her daughter she trotted up to her fearless son. Her words were not as gentle with him, not mean, but harsher with him as she knew he could take the toughness in her vocals. ”Felan, you need to watch yourself. This is not a pack that will accept a disrespectful boy like yourself. Don’t act up.” Her green orbs looked at his matching ones, knowing that she had not taught them much about living in a pack as she had little experience herself, but she did not want that to get her kin hurt. And she knew that Felan had a mouth on him.

After Azula had talked to her children she hung back again, letting Felan and Corde chat with themselves before they reached the borders. It was not long before the family was nearing Abendrot, the scent getting stronger. The female slowed her pace, expecting her son to do so as well, but she realized he was not, he was going to walk right into the borders of the pack they were trying to join. That was not going to make a good impression on Kershov when he came to the borders. ”Felan, STOP!” Her vocals rang out clear and with a slight growl to them, commanding, knowing that her son would listen even if it was grudgingly. She watched him scrape his paw in the dirt in boredom and annoyance and her scared face glared at him, daring him to disobey her and act up now. Azula stalked over to the borders, sitting close beside her daughter in a protective way as she waited at the border. She would not call, she knew that their scent would carry through the pack and as long as someone wandered by eventually they would be found and judged accordingly. Her green orbs flickered from her daughter and son to the trees in front of them, waiting to see if it would be Kershov himself or someone else to greet them.
