Like darkness is a constant, I will be a constant for her. Until death rips me from this world I will stand by her side and protect her. I would never hurt her, even if every fiber of my being was pulled apart. It was the power of the imprint bond, and it was the type of wolf I was learning that I was. I had never truly known myself until I met her, I was incomplete, a mystery even to myself. She had put my soul together like a puzzle and in return I was giving it to her.
Her touch is euphoric, nothing else will ever feel so good. I can feel our fur intermingling, her whiskers on my leg, her hot breath. She follows me, completely in sync the entire way and that was pleasing. She follows my silent direction, staying close to the wall and in safety. Yet she does something I could never expect, she grips my fur in her teeth, holding onto me so I wouldn't fall if I misplaced my footing. It is a caring thing to do.
When we reach the end of the walkway safely, she releases me and runs her muzzle over the spot she had gripped on my back, smoothing it out once more. She grins at me and I can't help but turn and grin back at her. I feel cold and empty without her touch as I slip through the opening, but it is a quick journey and we have reached the other side.
As soon as she enters, my eyes flash to her, watching to see what her reaction of the place is. She seems amazed, and makes me incredibly happy, a happiness I have never felt before. I watch her from the rock, finding myself lost in just how beautiful she really is. The way the sun hits her, she seems to glow like an angel, and not their phony angels we have here, but those real angels in heaven. She steps closer slowly and hesitantly, and I feel a sense of anticipation at this.
I am just frozen as I stare at her, smiling at her in awe. This cave does not compare to her beauty. The sun will never shine as bright as her eyes, the snow never as white as her fur. "Beautiful.." she breathes with a smile, and I believe that she is talking of the cave and not me. I nod my head to agree, but I nod my head in a way of speaking of her. I watch her stop at the waters edge, and then she does something that takes me off guard.
She lowers her head, like she is going to drink some of the fresh, cool water from this cave, but then I see the glint of playfulness in her firey gaze. Before her tongue touches the water, she uses her paw to splash me, sending my recoiling back in surprise and falling into the water behind me. I am soaking wet as I stand and shake off, looking at her with amusement, a grin coming over me and my tail wagging playfully.
Then, the sweetest sound caresses my ears. It is so beautiful, like the song of a bird. It is her laughter, and it echos through the cave, only becoming stronger and clearer. My shoulders shake, but no sound comes from my laugh, but it is still a laugh even if it is silent. I am quick in my surprise attack, jumping over the rock in front of her, and using my body weight to splash water at her. I have never played before, that I could recall, but it felt so right. These strange feelings, they were caused by Everlyse, but I loved every second of them.
