Perhaps at some point Calypso had been angry at Feist's constant returns to Fang, but she couldn't really blame the femme. It was too hard to stay mad at her after all, and these litters had become the only family she'd ever known. Recently she'd recieved news on the passing of her brother Hayazo, and with his death died the last of her family upon the mountain. Caly had been aloof about the news, but deep inside there was an ache that drove her crazy. Though they had never been close, he was still family, and the fact that she had no one left was everything but comforting. And so she had latched onto Feist, for better or for worse- their relationship had been tumultuous at best, in the beginning. However now they were closer than ever, but again the ache in Calypso's heart only grew more potent whenever their eyes met.

Family was a curious thing, after all, Calypso had spent most of her early life being teased by her brother Ryu. Her mother and father had soon disappeared along with Ryu, and while Hayazo remained on the mountain, they remained distant at best. When she joined Fire she thought she might have found a family there, with Wayne and Rin and Strider. But then Strider had died, and Wayne had disappeared. Though she professed to be over all of these things, sometimes late at night she wondered if one day she would wake up and Feist would be gone, too.

She was distracted by all of these thoughts and while her eyes were trained upon Feist, they seemed to be looking straight through her. Calypso watched as she crouched on the bank, a distant expression upon her face. And so, when the ice began to give way, it took a moment for the vampire to react. Things seemed to move in slow motion for a moment as Calypso's green eyes widened in shock and surprise. Finally, after what seemed like an eternity, Caly came to her senses. "Feist!" she barked, her paws scrabbling in the snow as she rushed towards the riverbank. "Just-- ####. Hold on!" She glanced around frantically, looking for something, anything that could help. But it was a lost cause. She would have to dive into the river and pull Feist out herself.

And so without a moment's hesitation Calypso leaped into the frigid water, droplets cascading around her ginger form as it landed in the river. Immediately the girl was chilled to the bone, but with the adrenaline surging through her body, she hardly noticed. Her strong legs kicked out in the water and propelled her towards the husky, her green eyes trying desperately to pick out her form in the cold, dark water. Soon enough Calypso caught sight of her quarry, head bobbing just above the rushing water. The vampire surged forward, her legs colliding with Feist's own flailing limbs. She grasped the husky around her scruff, jerking her head upward to keep their faces both out of the water.

"I got you." she said gruffly through the skin and fur in her teeth. Calypso didn't possess Dragon Heart but she imagined that this is what it would feel like, an incredible surge of adrenaline that enabled her to strike out through the water and paddle her way to shore while carrying what was basically a dead weight. Caly managed to pull Feist up onto the bank, and as she got the female to safety her surge of energy disappeared and she was left exhausted, frozen, and shaking. She hunched over on the bank for a moment, panting heavily.

"Feist... Feist.." Calypso said suddenly, rushing over and curling herself around the husky, though she had little body heat to lend. "Feist, please..."
