Ruieze Fields

Open fields and soft grass...
Ruieze stretches far in the midlands of Moladion, laced with streams that feed into Diveen and out of Asteraia at times. The fields are vast, filled with wildflowers and tall, soft grass; trees are sparse, as are rocks, but one can find small shrubs to hide amongst, and the grass itself. To the south of the fields, a Ruieze River widens, and the ground becomes sandy. There is a small, grassy island that can be reached from the banks, with water-birds often congregating on the island rather than the riverbanks.

The first howl makes my head pick up as I trot down the path toward the lake. It sounds like someone looking for company so I eagerly wag my tail and prick my ears, picking up the pace a little. It seems to be coming from the direction I'm heading anyway. When the second call comes out in answer, I pause for a minute and stiffen. Solitaire? We met again back in Glorall. He probably saved my life, actually. I'm just glad to have my brother back. Makes it not so bad that my sister hates me and blames me for our mother's death. I dread the moment I'll have to tell him what happened to her but I know it's inevitable. My tail wags faster as I take off in a lope, eager to reunite with my brother. He's probably going to think I'm the annoying stalker type now. Oh well.

As I get closer to the lake, I see that I'm not the first to make it here. I made it before Solitaire but another girl is already talking to her. There's something strange about her but I can't put a finger on what just yet. Still, something about the way her eyes are, something about the way she doesn't seem to be looking right at the girl she's talking to. I try not to stare, dipping my head in greeting to both as I look at each in turn.

"It's a pleasure to meet both of you. I hope you don't mind me showing up. I just heard the call and didn't know if there was a limit to how much company you were looking for."

I offer a charming smile.

"My name is Tristan by the way, Tristan of Glorall."

That's polite, right? I notice the fish carcass by the girl who must have called and my eyes widen.

"You know how to FISH? I didn't think a lot of other wolves knew how."

I look a little sheepish as I admit that. I thought it was a cool skill for a wolf from a pack known for its water to know such a skill but now I know other wolves know how to do it and they probably fish better than me. Shoot. Guess I'll have to practice more and find something else to learn. I look up when I smell another wolf but he bypasses us completely, only coming into sight as he drinks from the water. I tilt my head, wondering if he's just shy.
