Bright Moon - a land sullied by mystery and the ravaging scars of a terrible fire. Abandoned as a pack land for years, the terra has been used as a gathering place for the brazen and bloodthirsty drawn there by the lingering pall of death. Yet from the ashes there comes an unordained phoenix, the rainbow hues of hope glinting in her mismatched globes. Through the obsidian drapes obscuring the scenery, she alone was able to catch the perfumed aroma of new life on the breeze and hear the sluggish streams flowing ever swifter into the morning.

Thus, with a purpose, she set out to map the incognita, discovering daily the extent of the reawakening and unearthing within herself a desire to return the landscape to its former glory. Now she stands tall as privileged Alpha of the lands, lording over the rock-strewn prairie and bountiful forests with a firm but gentle paw.

Having finally realized her deepest longing to be a queen, Satowra is focused solely on the revival and maintenance of the Bright Moon Pack. Her question to each prospective warrior that comes to the border is simple:

"Do you have what it takes?"

Shae had received Striker's permission to stay within the boundaries of Moondown Shadows to raise the pups until their eyes were open and were at a suitable age to be rehomed. For those few short weeks, she was their mother. She fed them, bringing them carcasses of recently killed mothers, having them feed upon her teats until the udder was sucked dry. Sure, the body count was high, but she put all of the meat to good work, eating it herself and leaving it at the opening of the dens to the other wolves within the pack, especially Nymeria. The she-wolf seemed to be rather absent and lethargic, with good reason seeing as her sister died. Shae did not envy her... though she did not have the same relationship with her brothers as Nymeria had seemed to have with Lady, she cared about them in her own way, and even loved their individual insanities.

But these pups... these pups pulled at her heartstrings in an entirely different light. They needed her and crawled to her before they could even see or hear her. Still, even though she coddled them and took care of them, she tried to keep herself from becoming too attached - they were going to be her agents, expanding her spy network. She needed them to be attached to her, even to love her and be obsessed with her, so that their loyalty would be unquestionable and unwavering. And so she cleaned them, leaving her scent upon them. She nuzzled them, cooed to them, and as they aged, she fed them prechewed food, supplying them nutrients. She was their lifeline, and it was apparent as they grew just how attached they were. When their senses finally fully developed, they responded to her voice, followed her scent, ran after her when she left their side. Shae started to tell them of her affection for them, of how she needed them. That she would soon bring them to their respective new homes... but that she would never actually leave them. That no matter who their new parents, she would always be who they should love first and foremost. That it would be a game they would play, a long game, a life-long game of deception and conspiracy... only she put it down as acting. At first the pups whined and cried at the prospect of losing her, but then they became excited when she told them how she was proud of their bravery, how much she trusted them.

And finally... today was the day.

She gently nuzzled the pups awake, and asked who wished to start the game. Nzingha, as she so often did, remained silent, but bravely stepped forward and nuzzled gently against her limb, offering herself forward. Shae put her nose against her, licking her clean one last time, before placing her incisors upon the pup's scruff, lifting her, and started out toward Bright Moon. Her gait was an easy lope, the pup's small frame swaying too and fro with each stride. The distance was long, and when she finally arrived, she strode past the boundary line as if it was not there and traveled deep into the terra, only stopping once she found a spot to place the pup that was partially hidden. "Okay, my little love. Remember now, to tell him your name and who you are when you arrive. He is to be your new father." The little pup, so unique in color, whined softly and Shae pulled her to her. "Hush now, be brave. I will always be your mother and will always love you. Do not forget me." A single tear flowed from Nzingha's orb, rolling down her cheek but she sniffled and wiped her face against her paw. "It's a game, my dear, and I will come back to see you often. I promise." The kalak braced herself and raised her chin, calling for the Alpha, for this pup's blood kin. Reaching down, she licked the child and smiled briefly before turning, running back to the den she had called home for the past few weeks before Summer arrived. He had seen three pups be born, and would no doubt wonder why only one was left for him. Surely, he would assume one would be left in Moondown Shadows in order to sign their alliance... but by the time he discovered it, though, it would be too late.

The fae braced herself and forced herself to smile, lying to herself about just how deep the pups had managed to dig themselves into her heart.
