There is a job to be done for everyone Mother had decided belonged here, she claims I am too young for such a hefty thing as security, but I am stronger than I seem. Paws of fire and shadows make their way around the large expanse of rolling plain I have come to understand as home, the windswept grasses swaying in a gentle breeze that kicked up my fur and brought the bitterness of the cold too close to my skin for any sort of comfort. I keep to my path, the steps taking up along a strong scent trail led by my nose. These tracks smell like dust and grass and water, but there was also the overwhelming stench of over population clinging to the track. I know there is more than one stranger here, but I have been raised without fear of others, Mother would eat any threat posed to any of her blood or her pack, she has told me as much. Mostly white frame is moved in their direction as I keep my small pink nose to the ground, my hooded figure is not imposing as I want it to be, but one day the world will be terrified of me. White drizzles down from the sky, and my multi-hued green gaze is given to follow it as I pause in my search for the wolves who don't know boundaries. When a flake of the sky touches my nose, it is cold to the touch, but melts away and turns into sky water that Mom calls rain. My long legs take me further into my home, bright greens searching over the now brown grasses of Asteraia in search for something that did not belong here. When I spot them, I lope their way, and I catch the last of what the pup on the back of the other says about him ruling this land. Silently, I approach them, taking a position from just behind the other two, waiting before I respond to see if the other would speak. "There are a couple of flaws in your plan, kid." I speak in condescending tones, looking down my black nose at the pair before me. "First, you think you will take this place from it's current leader. Second, it is difficult to make trees grow where they have no reason to take root." I felt it was only polite to let him in on the hiccups he couldn't see. Taking in their scents and their looks, I guess they are from a place of dust and over population. They may have thought Asteraia abandoned, barren, and overly empty. I will clear this up for them, though. I should have back up soon, and these boys would hate it if they harmed me and Father came. My massive parent was an imposing figure to come against, even striking apprehension in me, and these two wouldn't want to meet him if they hurt me. Why shouldn't I throw my weight around? I am a princess now, it was time I acted like it. I do not have to hide myself away any more, and for this, I am forever thankful to Mother and Father, and I will do my best to show it. |
