Aplos Riverside

Moladion’s powerful, winding river...
Aplos River is a broad, slow-moving river originating from somewhere beneath the mountains of Spirane and feeding Iromar’s moors in the south. The northern parts of the river are known for their strong currents, with the water becoming slow moving in the south. The riverbanks vary along its course, ranging from soft hummock grasses to small groups of pine, and sometimes nothing but pebbles and sand. Crossing can be difficult at times, but it can be swam or bridged by fallen trees or boulders alike.

DON'T STOP

HOLD YOUR HEAD HIGH AND REACH THE TOP

Stretching lazily, I let my legs dangle over the edge of the river bank, my paws curling into the edge of the soft ground before I pulled them back, adjusting my body easing my weight onto my chest, rather than my shoulder blade as I moved. I shifted a little more, pushing myself up into a seated position finally. I shook my head slightly, getting rid of the little blobs of dirt and grass that clung to my face. I shifted my gaze back to his face, oblivious that his past had been eerily similar to my own, I didn’t think we had much in common, other than I was born with this red in my coat and he seemed to be more than fascinated with it.

The only difference was my birth mother had died shortly after leaving me in a pile of dirt under a bush, running in the opposite direction to save me from a rouge wolf who had stumbled into Moladion before the meteor, that wolf had taken my mother from me, but in turn gave me a different mother, Juno. That had led to the first rough months of my life, and watching my sister die before my eyes. But it had shown me no matter who you are, you always have some kind of trauma in the past that will forever change you. No doubt about that.

He spoke again, and I nodded my head, my eyes focusing on him for a moment, contemplating my next words. ”What if it had been blood, and not just my markings, what then?” I asked honestly, curious if his motivation at the color was for some deeper, more twisted reason. I didn’t know why I was still here, talking to him, it was a conversation I never imagined myself having, but at the same time, it was better than having a conversation with yourself, right? He did not seem like a ignoble man, and it made me wonder why he was a loner.
