If those within the pack did not think disrespect to a stranger was wrong, then he did not want them here. They did not look at the larger picture and Covet was okay with that part too. It was easier this way and did not paint him in the way he had been debating on painting himself. Better they leave rather than him asking them to, right? The creatures who called themselves angels had looked down on others for so long and probably would continue to do so, but Covet did not have to think too much on that anymore. They never had to understand the truths of his intermingling with so called angels and the fact that the three most important -- known and met -- creatures in his life had been called angels.

It was not a random thing, his feelings about the angels, but if they all wanted to pinpoint it on a face of those angels being rude, then they could. But really, it had only been a reason for Diveen. The last part of reasoning, as he protected the other reasons. Covet did not know quite why he still kept Malina's secret, why he did not list her as a part of why Diveen. He does not bring up Fathom because that was his folly in may ways. He does not bring up Ava because... she had distanced herself from Diveen and perhaps she had her own reasons for that, too. But Covet had wondered once or twice why Ava had never tried to become a queen. He wasn't going to ask it of her, but that did not take the thought away.

Diveen had felt like it had been going stale. They had peace and for any other pack that was fine; but for those who called themselves angel assassins no longer bothering to do what they had started out to do.. combine that fact with never moving forward and away from their label, well.. Covet felt like it was time for a change and he honestly hadn't wanted Achillies to be that change. The subject of change did not need to be him, however. Which was something he had debated long and hard about with challenging. He did not need to rule, not really. He could give it a try because why not? But if he wasn't fit to do this, then why drag a pack through the mud in sticking around?

Now the problem with trying here was the fact that none of those angels would give him much of a chance if they had the same views as the rude male who had been sent away. Covet understood that he would not find many of those willing to give him a chance here, and had accepted that for what it was. And he would much rather rebuild Diveen of better wolves, unbiased wolves that would look to how rather than why (or the public given why), than try to fix a broken mindset. Wolves were not less just because they were not born or made angels or assassins. There was much more to life than that. If he couldn't bring that message to light, then he would find someone who would.

For now, there were a sparse few who had remained. This was fine with him, for he did not require a large pack for it to be meaningful. Still, he knew he needed to meet with those few and see what their opinions were on carrying this pack forwards. His leg had been swelling since the fight, and it was difficult to move much, though he did his best not to show pain. He would overcome this, be stronger for it. This was the way of things. He made it to Diveen and settled so not to put pressure on the limb. There were neck wounds ans swelling, and half of his face had swelled to where he could barely see out of one eye. Tomorrow he might not see out of it at all, but he would deal with that when the time came.

Covet called for the remnants of the pack, for those who had stayed, for any that wished to join under new leadership. Hopefully there would be someone inclined to healing still in the small group, but if not, perhaps he would seek someone else out. He knew a few things to get by; he couldn't be the creature he was without knowing something of keeping himself alive. Salve of plants had been pressed to the wounds he could get it to, which had included awkward positions and more pain, but Covet would endure. Better to have that pain than risk more infection and worse later. He kept his good eye open and sharp, waiting to see who showed up, and if any new wolves would join in or not.
