Whimsy was a little struck by the thought she could be mistaken for a God. Did they really look that normal? Of course, being more into tangible things she had never mused on their actually being around or speculated about what they would look like. She mostly left them alone, though she could not say she did not believe in them (not knowing much about them, and all). And her instructor certainly invoked them enough when annoyed at her incompetence or lack of intelligence. She gave an amused chuckle. "Nope, I've never even met Lorraine. In fact, I just got here not that long ago." The girl's greeting was unusual but Whimsy supposed everyone had their own customs.
"It's nice to meet you, Cal" answering the greeting. Then took a piece of offered fudge. It was sweet and delicious, an immediate favorite when she let it melt on her tongue. "Yum, that's delicious!" she exclaimed. "I'm from Earth," she continued. "So far I'm living at the academy. I just took up classes there." She made a face. "But so far I'm not very good, or at least my instructor always seems cross with me."
She chewed thoughtfully. Being a hummingbird had been easier. No thinking or creating required. But it had also been far less interesting. Whimsy was pretty sure she could continue on at the academy and get it write, even if her sewing and weaving was currently rudimentary. She shrugged off the feelings of inadequacy and offered a sheepish smile to Cal, recognizing she had been momentarily lost in her own troubles.
"So Buddy came with you from Xara?" He seemed unusual, even on Shaman. She was curious about familiars, not yet having one of her own. Had she seen them before they had seen her, perhaps she would have even thought him a God, or at least a spirit. Not that she followed those kinds of things. |
