Glorall

Disaster has struck!
Flooding from the north has taken its toll on Glorall. The large tides combined with the increase in water draining from the Ruieze River has flooded the lower regions of the pack. The sandy soil, compounded with so much water, has toppled a lot of trees. Traveling is difficult even when the water is shallower, with the sandy soil below being difficult to find traction on. The daily tides seem to keep the level of flooding fairly consistent, too.

During the low tide, wolves may be able to move around the higher dunes (with some difficulty) but during high tide, the pack is almost impossible to safely navigate. Swimming is possible, but the risk of currants and surges from either the ocean or the river are very real. The island off of the coast of Glorall is untouched by either issue, although it is incredibly difficult to find your way there without being an adept swimmer with plenty of good luck!

Note: Glorall will reopen once 30 posts have been completed (or at Staff discretion). During this time, new threads will receive a 'Surprise','Disaster', and prizes. Glorall is currently not open for challenges.

Perhaps it is an issue that I do not know the wolves of Glorall so well - those that were here before I came. Their relationship to their former ruler is one I do not completely understand and yet, they had chosen to stay. That is of some importance, though I cannot help but wonder at times what it is they truly feel any kind of loyalty towards. The land, their heritage or some part of me? It doesn't bother me where it resides, only that it does. This male, of course, is no exception. He was here when I arrived and he has seemingly been here for some time - there is a knowledge in the way he moves about the pack, a kind of certainty. It is a way of movement that only comes from having grown at the hip of a landscape. The same way I had moved about Diveen as a whelp, or the way that my paws adjusted slowly to the paths of Taviora. Yet, he is quiet. It is unusual. Usually those with such an innate understanding of a territory bring with them an overt confidence. Take, for instance, those in Diveen that boast their knowledge. So, what exactly is he?

He seems on edge. It is a curious thing in itself, yet I do not ponder it for long. I am not interrogator - not now, at least. I have come to understand that those within the pack must be given leniency if they are to... trust me, I suppose. If I am too dilligent, too watchful, they will shy away undoubtedly. Besides, his skittishness quickly absolves into something more becoming of him. It allows me to relax, more so that he is more... himself, it seems. He had not seemed so tense when I had first seen him, and so I am sure to take note. Had something happened? Was he nervous about all the change that had begun to take hold in Moladion?

He speaks up then, seemingly more confident in his approach. I watch him closely, a single brow rising to attention as he mentions a desire to prove himself - a diplomat? One side of my lip turns up into an amused grin. Perhaps he is more in tune with my own thoughts than I had assumed, or perhaps he is merely well timed. Naturally punctual. I do my best to appear kind as I begin to speak, easing my way into the formalities of such an ask.

"Ambition can be a patient thing," I say simply, putting to rest his apologies. After all, I do not need them. Apologies do so little. "As for your desires, I am sure we can see them to fruition."

I eye him once more, twisting my neck so that I might fully inspect him. It's an odd thing. He has a build suitable to fight or hunt and yet, he desires a more peaceful path. Perhaps it will work to his advantage, or to his disadvantage. I recoil back then, lowering myself to be seated - a more comfortable situation, I feel. I nod towards him, inviting him to take a more comfortable stance. It is then that I begin to address his real concerns, watching him with a curious - yet eager - eye.

"We have a need for somebody to aid in... diplomacy, as you would. Tell me, what do you know of such a role?"

I have my mother to advise me, after all, and yet her recent... disappearances have made me skeptical. It is surely not a bad idea to begin scoping those within the pack.
