Enocra Woodland

Pine, spruce and firs alike...
Dense coniferous forests cover the woodlands, with clearings, paths and the occasional wildberry shrub throughout. Pine, spruce and fir make up much of the forest in the east, with the forest becoming swampier in the west towards Mecor Valley. In the west, cypress trees dominate, with fallen trees creating bridges across and throughout the stillwaters.

Come baaack! She whimpered into the air, her tail slowly dropping in her sadness. Winter had started to set in, the air had grown cold, and her friends had fled to seek shelter in southern climates, or in their comfortable homes. Even the pixies and faeries that had been her constant companions had decided to spend the chilly day in their trees, cuddled together to prepare for the days that would only grow colder. Frustrated, Taika had continued to look and search for these friends, or any, that would give her the time of day. She happened upon a bird, one that had found enough seed if did not feel the need to fly far to make it through the snow. With more glee than could reasonably be found in a soul, Taika had leapt toward it, and danced around as it fluttered in confusion. She knew birds did not like being snapped at, and kept her mouth firmly shut and she bounced back and forth. Her body and her tail mimicked the terrified bouncing movements and flapping of the sparrow’s wings. Finally, the bird remembered itself and flew up into the tree, tittering scathingly at the wolf that lingered below.

Soft chocolate brown eyes looked up at the feathered puff, and once again the young female drooped with sadness. She sighed and looked around her again. Wind shifted the trees around her and knocked the dusty ice crystals from the branches. Sun danced among the diamonds, reflecting and shimmering in the air. Taika’s tail shot up again. Her fairies had come back to play! Laughing with joy she jumped and danced in the falling snow, nipping playfully at the flakes.

I knew you wouldn’t leave me! She said happily to the imaginary friends.

Mere months away from maturity, Taika had long outgrown her puppy body. Her dark brown pelt was deep and smooth as rich chocolate before reaching to the surface where the fires of the sun had kissed her overcoat and licked it red. Her eyes, just as deep as the rest of her, were shot with sparks of gold that lit up with her playful nature. Her body had grown into maturity, but she had decided long ago she would never let go of the joy she found in the world around her. Too often the spirits around her had lost faith in their lives and lived in the sadness that surrounded them. Too often they had come across something that stole the pleasure of seeing the sunrise from their eyes. Forgotten were the times that wolves around her lived to let live. And so, Taika played. She raced, and she created a world where pleasure and friendship could be found even when you were alone in the cold.

Blinded by play, the young female almost literally stumbled onto the barely-out-of-puppyhood girl. In an instant, the fire blessed fem jumped into a play bow that was all too natural for her.

Hello! She called to her new-found wolf friend. I’m Taika! Defender of Faeries! Introductions over, it was playtime.

Taika
