The wolf before me seems content with the way the day is going. She looks relaxed, something I wouldn't expect from a creature who lives in a pack like this. True, we have rules like those that tell us not to hunt other members of the pack but is anyone here ever truly safe none the less? Yes, the alpha is prudent and keeps her own safe. She has proven that by going to get Nakato back from Diveen. She is ever watchful, marks of a good alpha, but we are still murderers at heart, most of us. Eric and Seline have been teaching Kronos and I to kill ever since we were pups, first bringing us pieces of heart and liver to chew on and slowly we moved up, getting whole organs and then having to come to the fresh kill to pull the innards out ourselves. Once we did that, they let us hide in the bushes while they lured the prey in and killed them, making us watch to learn their techniques.
By the time we were one year old, my brother and I knew how to hunt and kill other wolves. Eric and Seline took us out as much as possible and showed us how to survive. I've never looked at a deer or bird the same way since. They just don't get my adrenaline rushing like a wolf crying out for help. I look down at my paws momentarily, taking in the purity of the snow at my feet. Spring is in the air but winter holds on with a vengeance. When the wolf looks at me, the first thing I notice is that she has bright blue eyes, almost the same shade as my own. When I introduce myself, she smiles and sits up, seemingly friendly and welcome to visit and talk. I can feel her gaze looking me over, as if measuring me up for the rank I've chosen for myself but after a few seconds, she seems approving, as if deciding I will make a fine warrior and I feel myself straighten up in response.
When she speaks back, I prick my ears and nod in acknowledgement. I had a feeling this was the Nakato I had been watching and following so it's no surprise that she gives her name as such. She names her own rank and I tilt my head, brows furrowing as I think on what the Frankenstein does. "What's a Frankenstein?" I ask, not embarrassed that I don't know it. I've pretty much set my sights on Orthos and never looked back, not taking the time to check on the other ranks because they hold no interest for me. I want to know what she plans on doing though. Might be good for an advantage in the future. I note that she's trying to wag her tail but my brow rises in surprise when I see that she only has a stub. I scowl. "What happened to your tail?" I've always been rather straight forward when I talk, never much of a smooth talker like my brother or mother. I believe I take after my father, though even he has a way of holding his thoughts in more.
She is ever observant, her gaze roaming over me as if reading a book and I shift my weight but don't recoil any, having too much pride to think she can find anything wanting in my growing frame. She smiles even more as if only finding more and more stuff to like and my tail gives a subtle wave in response. She asks of my intentions and one ear flicks back as I contemplate how to answer. Should I tell her I've been following her? At her offer, I chuckle under my breath though and shrug my shoulders lightly, shaking my head. "You wouldn't be so kind to offer if you knew the nature of my own appetite. Trust me, I'm better off getting my food alone." I smirk good naturedly and look at the bird, my nose wrinkling. "No need to apologize. Bird's definitely not my thing." I look back up at her now, blue eyes intense and unabashed. "I came to see what's so interesting about you. The alpha left quickly to go get you back from Diveen. I thought you might be important so I've been following you."
I decide honesty is better and we'll go from there. My gaze remains even and steady on her, waiting for her reaction.
