He was lost again, but at least he didn't understand enough to know that a wolf like him, out on his own, was a vulnerable and inviting sight for any wolf of a less... gentle disposition than those that he was used to. Jaeger had been happy, lately, his adolescent body maturing while his mind did not. The reason that he had not seemed to grow out of puppyhood was a mystery to everyone around him, and though it made no difference to the boy, it was certainly wearing on his parents, as they rest of the litter had flown the nest long ago.
Jaeger walked through the rocky terrain, clumsily tripping over pebbles and sometimes his own paws. His body showed potential, but his mind clearly did not, as slow and as childish as he was. But at least he was happy, as puppies usually were. He was content to live with his parents in the only den that he had ever known. And recently, his trip to Spirane had shown him a new friend, one with whom he shared a strong bond that he couldn't quite place. He didn't understand the tug in his heart that wanted to pull him towards her.
But the boy hardly worried about that- hardly worried about anything. Jaeger was as carefree as he had been as a pup, a goofy smile on his face, traipsing through the rocks clumsily, not caring about a thing. |
