Aplos Riverside

Moladion’s powerful, winding river...
Aplos River is a broad, slow-moving river originating from somewhere beneath the mountains of Spirane and feeding Iromar’s moors in the south. The northern parts of the river are known for their strong currents, with the water becoming slow moving in the south. The riverbanks vary along its course, ranging from soft hummock grasses to small groups of pine, and sometimes nothing but pebbles and sand. Crossing can be difficult at times, but it can be swam or bridged by fallen trees or boulders alike.

I grow increasingly bored with the alpha busy fighting Jaidah once again for the throne of Asteraia. I have faith that she will meet with victory but until she gets back, who's to train me for Orthos? I am more determined than ever with every day that goes by that I will be strong and I will be a wolf my parents and my bloodline will be proud of. I have the legacy of the Satanican's hanging on my shoulders and I won't let them down.

When I find a slow moving river on the outskirts of Asteraia, I decide to follow it, figuring it's gotta be better than just hanging around here waiting for something to happen. I thought about hunting down Tobias to train me instead but he seems more grouchy than usual so maybe I'll find someone else to bug instead. Trees start to surround me as I follow the river and the grass grows long and wavy, caressing along my russet coat as I walk along. I could be hunting my next meal but I'm feeling quite lazy today so maybe later I'll go on a hunt.

I find out soon enough that I'm heading south, since the air gets a tangy taste to it and my nose wrinkles up at the smell of the swamp lands of Iromar. I should have known I would end up heading in this direction but I don't exactly know why. The ground grows soft beneath my toes and I don't like the squishy sounds it makes. It must be hard to hunt in those pack lands. I wonder how they stay alive. When I hear someone coming, I decide to take cover, crouching in some bushes off the side of the river. My midnight blue eyes watch through the thick branches as the wolf gets closer, trying to make out a face. The closer the figure gets, the more familiar they look.

My skin starts to tingle and my ears flicker uncertainly. The wolf is a female; that much, I can tell. But why would I know her? My tail twitches as I try to figure it out. Finally as she gets closer, a memory flits to mind. Me as a yearling jumping off the cliffs at the crags, trying to impress a girl while daring her to mirror me. She wouldn't play the game, of course, which frustrated me to no end but her witty comebacks and her mezmerizing color left an impression I apparently never forgot. My lips crinkle back in a grin as I step from behind the bush. "Well, well, well, lookie what we have here." My eyes glitter daringly, wondering if she'll remember me too. A year has gone by after all.
