Nakato
nothing lasts forever but the earth and sky |
Ever since she watched the Monster walk away to answer the challenger, Nakato had been pacing back and forth in her den nervously. The pile of herbs and salves sat on her branch basket next to her dark paws. The rain continued to pour down and the lightning lit up the sky before growling angrily. The whole situation made the healer more and more stressed. That is, until the Monster returned and announced her victory with a mighty howl. Even the heavens echoed their pleasure with the alpha and Nakato couldn’t help but sigh deeply. She grabbed the branch in her teeth and dragged it behind her slowly towards the area the summons had come from. The rain cascading around her made her fur damp within seconds, soaked within minutes. A few wolves passed her by as she carried her cargo, none of them were pack members she had met personally before. They were a pack, maybe even a family, but it seemed most of the wolves who called the plains their home were independent and didn’t need to spend their entire lives tucked away deep within the borders. At long last, the druid came upon a small gathering. She noticed Tick Tock right away, standing proud and tall amongst her family, but her eyes wandered to the back leg she held aloft. Nakato’s ears fell back as she knew instantly how badly damaged that wound must be. A wolf as strong and honored as the Monster wouldn’t show pain like that unless they had no choice. For a moment, the Frankenstein wondered if she should begin treating her alpha here and now, but thought better of it. First off, it was best to get her out of the rain where she could dry and stay warm. Secondly, this was her moment to shine. To stand before her followers and bathe in the glory that comes with victory, whether she wanted to or not. Nakato knew first hand that her leader did not boast about her abilities, did not share that she was a queen. But, in her eyes at least, she was regal and noble just like a true queen. The bob-tailed she wolf moved forward carefully, leaving her branch of herbs behind. Avoiding eye contact with the others who she knew were a bit more… temperamental, she moved to stand before Tick Tock with a gentle smile on her muzzle. ”You have done well tonight, Monster. Thank you for keeping us safe. When you are ready, I will mend your wounds.” Then, she stepped back to allow Tick Tock her moment. She eyed the newcomer who had mentioned marigold warily, not recognizing who she was. She made no movement towards this wolfess, but watched the situation from afar, only willing to through her teeth into the fray should it come to that. For now, she waited for Tick Tock to finish and together, they would travel to her den where Nakato would offer her services to ease her alpha’s pain. |
