It was interesting how the ocean could look so different depending on where you viewed it from. From the swamp, the sea looked black and foreboding. The waves crashing against the rocky shore spoke of death and mystery. When standing on the sandy beach just outside of Glorall, however, it shone like a blue gem in the midday sun. Even though the chill of autumn made the spray unbearably cold, it was still much more pleasant of a sight than what Iromar had to offer. The gulls above screamed and the smell of salt was thick and heavy, but it was still nice and inviting. Perhaps he would return come spring and swim in the largest puddle in the world. But that was for another time. He had a mission to accomplish first and foremost.
After a final glace at the ocean, Halcyon turned away from the beach and moved more inland. He was here on a diplomatic mission and he thought it best to not make it look like he was trying to enter Glorall from a random place. Iromar was close by and he wanted them to see that he had walked from there without moving away from the path. Once he felt he was in a more logical place, he continued on his way towards the edge of the pack lands. The musk of other wolves almost smacked him in the face and he immediately stopped in his tracks. There didn’t appear to be anyone around so Halcyon took this moment to groom himself up. He made his fur rest and tried this best to appear as… non-scruffy as possible. Once that had been finished, he gulped a large breath of air and let forth a howl. It was a special howl meant only for the alpha. It told the wolves of Glorall that Halcyon was here on pack business, not a sightseeing tour.
At the end of his song, he took a few steps back and sat on his haunches, puffing his chest out confidently. If this worked, a pup would be coming with him to Iromar and the two pack’s friendship could be strengthened. But, most importantly, he would be one more step closer to gaining his new rank as Elite Guard! Patiently, the child waited for Eden, the Fortitude of Glorall, to appear. Now, more than ever, Halcyon was going to have to reply on the traditions Iblis had taught him so long ago.
