The Grotto

Disaster has struck!
Years ago, an earthquake broke open several entrances into a deep, winding series of subterranean systems. It was thought that deep below, underground rivers snaked their way below Moladion. Now, flooding in the Northern reaches of Moladion has proven this theory to be true.

The Grotto is almost entirely submerged. Many of the entrances are completely inaccessible, and those that are only extend a few hundred feet before ending in water. The lower entrances, however, act almost like a giant drain for Moladion. Water pours down into the Grotto's maw as powerful rapids and waterfalls, and large amounts of debris have build up throughout the area. It can be exceptionally dangerous to travel due to the risk of flash-flooding and dams suddenly breaking, but the Grotto does offer the most consistent access across the floodwaters because of those dams.

Note:The Grotto will return to normal once 25 posts have been completed (or at Staff discretion). During this time, new threads will receive a 'Surprise','Disaster', and prizes.

For a moment, Gaia simply laid there, trying to be as non-threatening as possible. It was clear the other woman had heard her and was judging the situation. The younger wolfess couldn’t blame her, she knew what it was like to be afraid of the outside world. It had been several years since she was attacked and her journey outside of Moladion had allowed her to get over the trauma and build enough self-confidence to stand on her own four paws. She wasn’t the abandoned child she had been all those years ago. It was that reason alone the girl was able to be here now, talking to a stranger who could just as easily be an enemy.

But, it did not seem that was the case. Finally, the woman stepped towards Gaia, which caused her to stand up. She seemed to be much older and had a ragged look to her. It was clear had been in some kind of stressful situation at some point and though the copper girl was curious, she didn’t ask. That was not for her to know until the other decided to let her in. She introduced herself as Alana, a wolf who used to call Glorall home. The name was not familiar to Gaia so she gave a pleasant smile and answered Alana’s question.

"I saw you come in here and, to be honest, you looked like you were running from someone. So I thought I would come here and offer any assistance you may want." The girl worded her answer carefully, noting “someone” rather than “something”. She also put a bit of emphasis on “want”. If Alana needed help, she wouldn’t have been so secretive and guarded. No, this wolf was hiding many things but Gaia didn’t pry. She simply offered her services and should they be denied, she would bid the woman good-bye.

"I’m not much of a fighter, but my father and mother always told me ‘you should always help those who may not be able to help themselves’. So, if you’ve found yourself in a bit of trouble, I will do what I can to help you." Her tail waved calmly behind her and he bi-colored eyes hid no lies. The russet wolf continued to smile as the other girl seemed to calm herself slightly and sit down. Following her example, Gaia also sat on her haunches as she waited to see what her new companion would say about her offer.
