Nakato
nothing lasts forever but the earth and sky |
Seeing Tick Tock limp made the druid uneasy. It might be strange to some, but Nakato had placed the alpha on the highest pedestal. Much like a child would think, she thought her leader to be indestructible and perfect. There was nothing she could do wrong an no one could ever beat her in combat. While the latter certainly seemed to be true, the formers were not so much. Tick Tock was just like any other wolf. She could be hurt, she could bleed, and she could feel pain. That is why Nakato was here and when the Monster rested on her bed of furs, she went to work right away. She nodded in reply to Tick Tock’s question, pulling the branch of herbs with her, then spoke; ”Yes, marigold is a wonderful herb for purging the blood of infections. That wolfess knows a thing or two about plants. I was thinking about seeing if she wants to further her knowledge with me. But first, let me see if I can ease your pain, Mistress.” It was nice to call Tick Tock by the allowed name that only the healer could use. Monster was such a grotesque title in her opinion and though she respected her alpha’s wishes to call her that around others, she was happy when she could use her other title. The druid took her time to inspect every inch of her alpha, just to be sure she got everything taken care of. The torn scruff and scratch under her eye were nothing big, a bit of burdock and marigold would fix it right up. But Nakato gasped at the sight of the hock and new it was not going to be easy to heal, nor would it feel good. With a click of her tongue, she returned to her basket and pulled out a leaf fully of poppies. ”This will hurt. Eat these to help dull the pain,” she said, placing them in front of Tick Tock. While the alpha ate them, the healer quickly chewed a bitter burdock root with a sickly sweet marigold flower. When the paste was nice and thick, she gently licked them on the scruff and eye, careful not to get any in Tick Tock’s actual eye. When a few minutes passed by, and she was sure the poppies had done their job, Nakato moved to the hock and gave Tick Tock a warning. ”I have to reset this. I must admit, I have only ever seen two other fractures in my time. I will do what I can, but you must not use this leg for a long time, maybe even until spring. On the count of three, I am going to pull your leg back.” Then she took the paw carefully in her jaws, careful not to bite down too hard, and got into position. Blue eyes looked at Tick Tock and she counted down. ”One…Twff…” but before she reached three she pulled back on the leg and heard the bone give a nice, grinding-popping sound. Before she let go of the paw, however, she waited a moment to be sure the Monster would not move her leg and do more damage. The pain must have been intense and it made Nakato’s heart sink to have to cause such agony, but she knew it was for the best. After a moment, she quickly rushed back to her collection and grabbed more healing paste and a large leaf. Cleaning the wound was easy, but wrapping the leaf around the leg was not. After a few minutes, she was done and Tick Tock was left with a smelly, goopy mess of a leg, but it was on the mend. With a sigh, she returned to her alpha and placed a few more poppies in front of her. She also added a the seeds from a sleepy grass plant. ”These will help you sleep, Mistress. Your body needs intense rest, Frankenstein’s orders,” she said with a smile. Then, after gathering up her materials, she looked at the Monster with pure adoration. She laid down next to her, choosing to wait with her until the herb allowed her to rest easily, and said; ”Thank you for fighting for us. Because of you, we can sleep easy again. In the spring time, Asteraia will be safe for the new generation to roam and play and hunt.” At the mention of pups, Nakato felt herself tense up, but she thought now was not the best time to talk to the alpha about children. She would wait and, hopefully, she would be granted permission to give birth to her very first litter of pups. Hopefully… |
