Ruieze Fields

Open fields and soft grass...
Ruieze stretches far in the midlands of Moladion, laced with streams that feed into Diveen and out of Asteraia at times. The fields are vast, filled with wildflowers and tall, soft grass; trees are sparse, as are rocks, but one can find small shrubs to hide amongst, and the grass itself. To the south of the fields, a Ruieze River widens, and the ground becomes sandy. There is a small, grassy island that can be reached from the banks, with water-birds often congregating on the island rather than the riverbanks.

The shock of what she just learned had consumed her. All alone, Gaia sat under a large pine tree as she absorbed the information. Then, as the afternoon sun warmed the freezing earth, she cried. As the sun set, she was still crying. How could they have died? Iblis and Rhae had both been killed by a random stranger who had selfishly wanted their land. Had it been worth it? Had the lives of two great wolves been worth the flat lands? Gaia found herself growling quietly as she sobbed. It wasn’t until a haunting howl filled the sky that she came back from her mourning to the land of the living.

Tear stained eyes gazed around the fields (How had she gotten here?) as she tried to pin point where the call had come from. The sun was glowing a soft reddish gold as it began to sink beneath the western horizon. She watched it for a moment, hiccupping the last few sobs down, before moving off to find the one who called with such a beautifully haunting howl.

It didn’t take her long to find the other wolf. For a moment, she had thought something was on fire, but then she watched the figure move and saw the full form of the wolf. And what a wolf! Gaia was not the smallest of her siblings, but she looked like a pup compared to the massive form that rested on the rocks, calling out a prayer to the sun. Stopping to watch the stranger, she couldn’t help but notice the many differences between the two of them. Where the other was mostly dark, Gaia was a bright orange and cream.

She was a perfect blend of her parents, even up to her eyes. One being a dark, chocolate brown and the other a peaceful teal. Rhae had blessed her daughter with her feminine beauty while Iblis had given her a lean and graceful figure. Their first daughter… who had left them to die. She choked back another sob, which she was sure the other wolf had heard.

Now that her presence had been discovered, she moved forward on carefully graceful paws. Her tail was hung in a neutral position and a small, slightly forced smile spread across her face. Tonight, she didn’t want to be alone and if she could find company in this stranger, then so be it. "You have a beautiful voice. I hope you don’t mind if I join you. I’m Gaia, who are you?"
