The Grotto

Disaster has struck!
Years ago, an earthquake broke open several entrances into a deep, winding series of subterranean systems. It was thought that deep below, underground rivers snaked their way below Moladion. Now, flooding in the Northern reaches of Moladion has proven this theory to be true.

The Grotto is almost entirely submerged. Many of the entrances are completely inaccessible, and those that are only extend a few hundred feet before ending in water. The lower entrances, however, act almost like a giant drain for Moladion. Water pours down into the Grotto's maw as powerful rapids and waterfalls, and large amounts of debris have build up throughout the area. It can be exceptionally dangerous to travel due to the risk of flash-flooding and dams suddenly breaking, but the Grotto does offer the most consistent access across the floodwaters because of those dams.

Note:The Grotto will return to normal once 25 posts have been completed (or at Staff discretion). During this time, new threads will receive a 'Surprise','Disaster', and prizes.

.because sometimes the sky explodes.

Strange, really. She had never considered Spirane being beneath the paws of anybody else besides her aunt. She wondered, then, where her father might have gone, and her mother too. Mana had difficulties imagining any of them being content settling elsewhere and yet, she had just as difficult a time imagining them being content to serve somebody they did not know. To be certain, Mana had definitely not known the male who howled from the slopes either. It seemed all sorts of upside down and yet, she had yet to seek out any of her family to discover what had become of them. Besides, she knew they'd do well enough for themselves. Alcmene had residence in Glorall and Los had always been capable by himself; as for her parents? Well, she'd give them time to make their own decisions before she began questioning them.

Still, she had been inclined to move away from the mountains herself. It'd probably be the best decision to do so lest she become wrapped up in some drama she wanted no part in. She had her concerns regarding her family, sure, but she had never been all that connected or attached to Spirane itself. It'd be folly to be roped into caring about something like a political struggle and yet, she figured she'd end up back there soon enough. Her curiosity always got the best of her - she had to fight it in every step she made through the stone walls of the grotto.

The rain had started some time ago; it poured down the rocky caverns and pooled in the slopes below her paws. It made her fur cling awkwardly at times, exaggerating the leanness of her figure as she stomped through it. It was not exactly enjoyable, though at least it was not cold. In fact, it almost felt like a relief considering the speed at which summer had begun to approach. It cooled her skin but it did not mean she was not driven to find refuge beneath the outcrops that scattered the area. It only made sense that the cavern lured her in.

From within, she had been able to make out voices, though they had been muffled at first. Once she had made it into the cavern's mouth, she had been better able to discern their tone and content; how could she resist? Rather than enter entirely, she pressed herself close to the stone wall, leaning into it idly as her ears flickered towards the darkness to listen in. Here, she'd not get wet and yet, she'd not risk the chance of being pulled into some kind of unusual gathering either. She'd just be able to listen and learn. So far, it wasn't much - just small talk, though the grumbling she's gone had been enough to raise a brow or two. It seemed almost threatening and she did a double take to ensure she had heard correctly. If she had? Well, the drama might have already began.
